Having eliminated any worries for the future, Jodio Joestar was in a very good mood.
Standing on the deck, he muttered to himself:
"Next, it's time to take care of that guy!"
"Rather than just waiting to counterattack when the time comes, I really prefer nipping danger in the bud."
With that, Jodio Joestar pulled a piece of chocolate from his pocket, popped it into his mouth, and tossed the wrapper casually into a trash can.
Then he turned his head and set off to track down Captain Tennille!
His search soon led him straight into the ship's galley, where he found Tennille himself.
Working with ingredients inside the kitchen, Tennille looked quite surprised when he saw Jodio Joestar walk in:
"Hello, guest, what brings you to the kitchen?"
"Could it be you didn't have breakfast?"
Looking at the earnest-looking Tennille, Jodio Joestar replied offhandedly:
"Captain Tennille, you're right!"
"I didn't eat enough for breakfast, and now I'm hungry!"
"So I came to the kitchen looking for a bite to eat!"
As he spoke, Jodio Joestar deliberately took out his wallet, pulled out some US dollars, handed them over, and said:
"Don't worry, I won't eat for free—I'll pay!"
"These dollars should be more than enough to cover the cost of my meal!"
Seeing what Jodio Joestar was doing, Tennille froze for a fraction of a second, but he quickly recovered, took the money, pointed at a cabinet in the corner of the kitchen, and smiled:
"More than enough, more than enough. It's just some food, nothing to make a fuss about!"
"Our food storage cabinet is right over there. Help yourself to whatever you like, just don't waste anything!"
Hearing Tennille's words, Jodio Joestar said nothing more. He put away his wallet and walked straight toward the cabinet Tennille had just pointed out.
Yet just as Jodio Joestar brushed past Tennille's side, a flash of icy light crossed the eyes of the seemingly harmless man. He secretly summoned his Stand, Dark Blue Moon, intending to launch a sneak attack.
How could Jodio Joestar, who had anticipated this all along, possibly let him succeed?
With a sharp clang, Armament Haki surged over Jodio Joestar's body, instantly blocking the ambush from Dark Blue Moon.
Jodio Joestar then turned his head and sneered:
"Captain Tennille, this isn't a very hospitable way to treat your guests!"
"I'm just eating some of your food, and I even paid for it. To try and murder me over that goes a bit too far, wouldn't you say?"
Seeing his sneak attack fail, panic flickered across Tennille's face. But an instant later, a ferocious expression distorted his features as he snarled viciously:
"Since you've already figured it out, I won't pretend anymore."
"My name is Tennille, and this is my Stand, Dark Blue Moon. I was ordered by Lord Dio to kill you all!"
"Blowing up your ship earlier was all a trick to lure you onto this vessel so I could pick you off one by one."
"Now that you don't know what's good for you, I have no need to hold back."
"Get him, Dark Blue Moon! Tear this damn fellow to pieces!"
At Captain Tennille's command, the fish-humanoid Dark Blue Moon immediately lunged at Jodio Joestar.
Dark Blue Moon's hands were coated in a layer of flowing water, and it spat stream after stream of water as it attacked Jodio Joestar right before it.
Yet facing such an assault, Jodio Joestar remained completely unfazed.
With nimble speed, he easily dodged Dark Blue Moon's attacks.
Then, wrapping his arm in Armament Haki and employing Soru, he vanished and reappeared right in front of Tennille in the blink of an eye.
Seeing Jodio Joestar materialize directly before him, Tennille's expression turned intensely panicked.
He instantly tried to make Dark Blue Moon blindside Jodio Joestar from behind.
However, Jodio Joestar summoned The Winged Dragon of Ra, instantly generating a barrier of light that blocked the streams of water spat out by Dark Blue Moon!
Tennille still tried to seize the opening to attack Jodio Joestar in a desperate bid for a counterkill.
Yet the moment his fist collided with Jodio Joestar's, a sharp crack rang out, and his arm shattered completely.
Clutching his broken arm, Tennille let out a miserable shriek.
Unfortunately for him, Jodio Joestar had no intention of letting him off so easily.
Under Tennille's terrified gaze, Jodio Joestar delivered a fierce, Haki-coated punch straight to Tennille's neck.
With a single blow, Tennille's neck snapped instantly, killing him.
Before losing consciousness entirely, his lingering awareness caused him to grab his throat with his remaining good hand as he collapsed onto the floor.
At the exact moment of Tennille's death, Dark Blue Moon—which had been relentlessly pounding away at the barrier of light behind Jodio Joestar—vanished into thin air.
At that very moment, Jean Pierre Polnareff, who was also feeling hungry and had come to the kitchen in search of food, happened to witness the entire scene unfold.
Staring at the dead body of Captain Tennille, he wore a look of complete incomprehension, turning his gaze toward Jodio Joestar with a puzzled expression as he waited for the truth.
Having wrapped things up, Jodio Joestar recalled The Winged Dragon of Ra, dismissed the Haki from his hands, and said indifferently:
"This guy was an assassin sent by Dio!"
"He's the one who blew up our ship earlier!"
"I was hungry and came to the kitchen for a bite to eat, and this guy tried to sneak up and assassinate me."
"Fortunately, I'm sharp, so he didn't pull it off!"
"There's still another Stand User on this ship—an orangutan locked up in the hold!"
"This entire ship is its Stand, but after I gave it a sound beating, it learned to behave."
"From here on out, we just need to sit tight and wait for the ship to dock."
Hearing this, the simple-minded Jean Pierre Polnareff let out a startled, disbelieving shriek:
"Nani! Jodio! What did you just say?!"
"You're telling me Captain Tennille was an assassin sent by Dio?"
"And there's another Stand User on this ship, too?!"
"Th-this can't be true, right?"
Finding it hard to believe, Jean Pierre Polnareff hurried over, crouched down, and checked Captain Tennille's forehead.
Sure enough, right there on Tennille's forehead was a flesh bud—the exact same one planted by Dio Brando that they had seen before!
This realization shook Jean Pierre Polnareff's worldview to its core.
Failing to spare another thought for food, he spun around and bolted out of the kitchen.
A short while later, Jean Pierre Polnareff returned to the kitchen accompanied by Mohammed Avdol, Joseph Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, and Noriaki Kakyoin.
Joseph Joestar and Noriaki Kakyoin inspected the situation according to their usual routine.
Finally, Joseph Joestar spoke up with a grave expression:
"This fellow really was an assassin sent by Dio."
"The flesh bud on his head is the absolute proof."
"I never imagined Dio had so many Stand Users under his command. It's impossible to guard against every angle!"
Noriaki Kakyoin also chimed in with a look of lingering fear:
"Good thing Jodio was cautious and caught this early, otherwise something terrible could have happened."
"Ever since we set out, we've had assassins sent by Dio coming after us every single day."
"It seems this business is truly extraordinary."
At this, Jotaro Kujo said with a stern expression:
"Uncle, you mentioned earlier that there's another Stand User down below."
"Shall we go ahead and take care of it right now?"
Jodio Joestar shook his head in response:
"No, let's keep it alive for now. That thing is an orangutan, and its threat level is currently low."
"This ship is its Stand, and we still need the vessel to travel."
"If we kill it, the ship will disappear."
"If the ship vanishes out here in the middle of this vast ocean, what are we supposed to do?"
This remark won Mohammed Avdol's approval. He rested his chin in his hand and nodded:
"Jodio is right! We can't kill that Stand User just yet!"
"Otherwise, we'll find ourselves stranded at sea once again."
"Out here in the middle of the ocean, we won't always be lucky enough to just stumble upon another ship."
Hearing this, the group exchanged glances and unanimously decided to spare the orangutan's life for the time being!
And so the ship continued on its voyage, until by the evening of that same day, everyone finally arrived safely at the port in White Elephant Country.
Jotaro Kujo originally wanted to finish off the orangutan right then and there, but Joseph Joestar stopped him!
In the end, rather than being killed by Jotaro Kujo as it was in the original story, the orangutan—along with the entire steamship—was acquired by the SPW Foundation!
