...
Early morning, bright sunlight.
Ling Luo, climbing sleepily out of bed, muttered: Time travel! Seriously?
"Xiaoyou, are you there?" Ling Luo asked with some uncertainty, especially since he had no idea how he even got here.
"I am here, Host." As if knowing what Ling Luo was thinking, Xiaoyou added: "Wake up, Host, you are not dreaming."
"Whew~, so it's real." Hearing the affirmative answer, Ling Luo let out a sigh of relief, then immediately asked: "So do I have any missions right now?"
After all, looking at all the wonderful things in the mall, Ling Luo's mouth was practically watering, especially that skill name that seemed to radiate light—Power of Time. That's right, the very thing you're thinking of, the power of time!
Pity that this skill cost 400 points, and that was just for Level 1. For Ling Luo right now, he could only look and droop.
And that Power of Space—oh my god, how cool is that? Too bad Level 1 cost 400 points as well.
Even the Body Double technique, which sounded far less extravagant, required 100 points to acquire.
No help for it; these skills were just too tempting. Whether it was causing trouble, sneaking around, or dodging danger, having these skills would give Ling Luo a lot more peace of mind.
"Not at the moment. Missions are random, but the Host can also choose to trigger them actively."
"Is that so? Oh well, never mind that for now. Let's go out and buy some things first." Although provided by the system, this house was lovely and fully stocked with daily necessities, yet Ling Luo still felt something was missing.
Alright, to be honest, he just really wanted to go shopping. After all, the point exchange rate was pretty high; just a handful of points could achieve financial freedom.
In short, he wasn't short on cash right now. Smug pose, hands on hips.jpg.
Using his remaining points to upgrade Telekinesis to Level 2, Ling Luo happily headed out.
Hmm, this little cake looks good, I'll take one. This donut looks super delicious, I'll take one of those too. Wow, this pudding is a new flavor I've never tried before, grab it, grab it, take them all...
Before long, Ling Luo, carrying several large bags, slipped into a blind spot of the surveillance cameras, stored all the pastries, snacks, and vegetables he had bought into the system inventory, and then started walking back.
Too funny, as if he was going to carry all that back himself. Sipping a cup of milk tea as he walked, Ling Luo reflected that having a system was simply great.
...
Monsters didn't appear very often on this Earth; Zero had originally followed a trail of special energy fluctuations to get here.
With him were Ozora Daichi and X, except that when they arrived, they hadn't found anything unusual.
To ensure no accidents happened, they decided to stay here temporarily.
Before long, they ran into Kurenai Gai, who had just finished a mission out in space. Since the universe had been relatively peaceful lately, the New Generation heroes finally didn't have to run all over the cosmos.
The elders put their heads together and decided that since peace was a rare commodity, they should let the kids take a break. They generously provided a small base along with enough living expenses to sustain them, making the New Generation heroes and Zero permanent residents here.
Occasionally, a mission required a business trip, which they took turns handling, while the rest slacked off (scratch that) conserved their energy back at the base.
The New Generation heroes rejoiced: no more forced overtime! Sob, sob, sob.
Except for Haruki, who went off to work at the crack of dawn. Honestly, that blockhead's defense stat was through the roof; getting beaten to a pulp yesterday meant he was completely fine this morning.
Hm? You ask what kind of job Haruki went to? Why, his old day job—the Earth Defense Force, of course. Ah, what a diligent and good boy~
Kurenai Gai was in the kitchen practicing a new recipe. In his own words, hardly any of the New Generation heroes knew how to cook!
Asura Kurenai: Does boiling instant noodles count?
To keep from starving to death, the reliable senior Kurenai Gai had no choice but to fend for himself. So~ was it really just because he ate the most? Gai~
If he had known, he would have had Hikari install a self-cooking function in the base.
Perhaps the elders hadn't expected the kids to be quite so hopeless.
"Daichi, when are Riku and the others coming back?" Moroboshi Dan asked, looking half-asleep as he sat down with a yawn next to Ozora Daichi.
Heaven knows he had dreamed last night that he turned into a rabbit, held in the arms of that young boy who stroked his ears while murmuring things like, "Such a good boy~ It feels so nice to pet you~".
"Oh, Riku and them? Judging by the time their mission took and the distance from that universe to ours, they should be back tomorrow afternoon," Daichi replied.
"Dan? Are you listening?" Daichi looked at Moroboshi Dan's slightly flushed face with some puzzlement. "Are you not feeling well?"
"Ah, no!" Moroboshi Dan rubbed his face. "Got it, I... I know. I'm going out for a walk."
Without waiting for Daichi to reply, he bolted out the door, muttering under his breath as he went, "Damn it! All dignity I've built up over a lifetime, gone."
Daichi wanted to ask more, but rubbing his still-aching lower back, he gave up and watched Moroboshi Dan leave.
At that moment, X chimed in: "Daichi, is Dan perhaps..."
Daichi reflexively slapped his hand over the mouth of the mini-light-form X, glanced at the door where Moroboshi Dan had already vanished, and let out a sigh of relief.
Under X's somewhat bewildered gaze, Daichi explained: "Don't let Dan hear you. I really don't want extra training. Sigh, I'm just an ordinary scientist, I honestly don't want to go through that again."
As if remembering something, he added: "Don't let Dan's youthfool disguise fool you, that guy's combat stats are completely maxed out."
To this, X expressed agreement. Indeed, out of the whole group yesterday, only Senior Gai could make Dan get serious, though he still lost in the end.
"Oh right," Daichi said, suddenly remembering something as he looked toward the kitchen.
"What is it, Daichi?" X asked, puzzled.
"Did Dan... eat breakfast yet?"
"......"
Kurenai Gai, just stepping out of the kitchen with several bowls of decent-looking stir-fried noodles: ?
...
(Note: The base looks like a large villa from the outside and serves as their everyday living quarters, but parts of it are underground—such as the training room and laboratory—areas not meant to be shown to ordinary people.)
