Following the national highway, the group soon arrived at a water-refilling station not far ahead. Calling it a station was a bit of an exaggeration; it was essentially a local resident’s stone house with a wooden sign hung out front. They had set up a simple canopy in the courtyard that opened onto the road, covering most of the flat ground. Their own well and a sizable water storage tank were situated right there to provide services for passing drivers.
The operators were a middle-aged couple who, seeing the vehicles pulling over, hurried out to greet them with warm hospitality.
"Are you all here for water?"
