"Sigh! Not a single Elite tier, just a bunch of newbies pecking at each other." Someone approached me and said, "Please come with me to the command room, the commander wants to see you."
I followed the messenger to the command room, where many high-ranking officials had gathered to monitor the battlefield situation.
Without standing on ceremony, I found a chair and sat down, waiting for them to question me while casually watching the newbies peck at each other. There were even two Giants there, both lower Elite tier.
The battle continued. Since it was already an outnumbered fight, the situation was grim. Soon, one Giant of Light had a flashing red timer. They were nothing like me—with my Ultimate tier energy reserves, even suppressed, I was in a completely different league.
A Dark Giant was caught off guard by a sneak attack and knocked to the ground, the energy core on his chest flashing incessantly.
Youlian stepped forward and asked, "Your identity has been verified, everything is in order. Welcome to human society to relax."
"Your clansman is injured. Aren't you going to help?"
I didn't care in the least. "Getting distracted in battle while trying to help others—if you don't have the capability and still show off, you deserve to suffer. Besides, your team leader hasn't said a word, what the hell does it have to do with me?"
The Giant of Light team leader sneered, "Typical of a Dark Giant, cold and ruthless. Your own clansman is heavily wounded, and you're acting like it's none of your business."
The Dark Giant captain retorted, "He's right. If your strength isn't enough and you still want to play hero—and you're a Giant of Light to boot—did you drink fake wine or something? He deserves to suffer."
"Are you here just to have fun? You just arrived, so you don't have a place to stay yet, right? Go save him, and in exchange, I'll arrange a luxury residence for you. How about that?"
Without the slightest hesitation, I replied, "Fine! Deal." With that, I jumped straight out the window and vanished from sight.
My sturdy and handsome figure appeared on the battlefield. Saving people wasn't my style. Wouldn't it be much simpler to just wipe them all out?
I summoned a Dark Light Ring, cutting the Monster that was about to finish off the wounded Giant into pieces. Activating my Telekinesis, I launched a sneak attack with my Head Slugger, piercing two Monsters currently fighting the Dark Giants. Drawing my Light Saber, I entered with High-Speed Movement, taking down one Monster per sword stroke, effortlessly dispatching the rest before disappearing from the battlefield.
I reappeared in the chair inside the command room. The moment I sat down, a key was tossed at me. "Your strength caught me off guard. You're strong, stronger even than me—impressive! Here is the key to the housing I promised you. When the others get back in a moment, I'll have them show you the way."
Youlian asked doubtfully, "Are you two not close?"
The Dark Giant captain said, "There are plenty of Dark Giants, and everyone has their own social circles. Isn't it perfectly normal not to know each other?"
"If I'm not mistaken, you must be Cesia, the one who's been slaughtering Monsters left and right lately, right? Impressive! You've become quite famous recently. Everyone knows there's a powerhouse like you around, so I expect plenty of female Giants will be looking you up. That's the perk of being famous—you aren't hiding from people, are you?"
I felt helpless. It really was a small world; every tiny little thing gets around. "Stop talking nonsense. There just aren't any decent opponents left. Killing high-tier ones isn't even fun anymore. Slaughtering twenty in one breath gives me zero sense of achievement. I just came to human society to unwind, that's all."
The Dark Giant grinned lewdly and said, "We're all adults here, male Giants, no need to explain, I get it! I totally get it!"
Looking at that lewd expression, I really wanted to punch him. For goodness' sake, what the hell do you get?! Trying to explain things just makes it more confusing. I simply shut my mouth and waited for someone to lead me to my quarters.
Soon, the ones who had gone out to fight returned, supporting the wounded as they re-entered the command room.
The captain pointed at a Giant who had stepped into the high tier not long ago. "You, take this guy to our residential area, Villa Number 10. Go with him and see if you're satisfied!"
I stood up, fell in step with the Giant, and followed him to my residence. It didn't take long to reach the housing area.
After making a few turns, we arrived. "This is it right here. You've got the key, right? Go on in. I have to head back and join the others to review the battle gains and losses, so I won't keep you company."
I nodded and said, "Thanks, go do your work. In combat, don't throw punches at full strength—it's too easy to make mistakes. Always leave some reserve power for contingencies unless you're certain of a one-hit kill. Go ahead."
I turned, walked toward the house, took out the key, and opened the door. I admired the luxury residence—exquisitely decorated and pleasing to the eye.
Finding the master bedroom, I lay down on the bed. It was extremely comfortable, so I decided to get a good night's sleep.
Back in the command room, the Giant who had escorted me to my quarters had also returned.
He asked, "Who was that guy just now? He moved into Luxury Villa Number 10. When he was leaving, he even warned me not to use full strength when punching, and to keep reserve power for contingencies unless a one-hit kill is certain. Captain, was he telling the truth?"
The Dark Giant captain replied, "Consider yourself lucky that he was willing to offer a bit of guidance. He's a lot stronger than I am. The one who saved you guys just now was him."
"I merely made a deal with him to bring the wounded back, and he wiped out the Monsters on the side. Even if I advanced another step, I couldn't pull it off as cleanly as he did. He's a powerhouse, so show some respect when you see him in the future. His name is Cesia, remember it!"
Youlian asked, "Are there many people like him among the Dark Giants?"
The captain pondered for a moment. "I'm not much of a powerhouse myself, I can't break into their circles. Don't bother trying to enlist such heavyweights for help; you can't offer anything they care about. As for me, I only took the assignment to look after the younger generation of the clan and ensure their training went safely. After all, they've all just entered the high tier, their strength is lacking, and going out alone isn't very safe."
Youlian lowered her head in thought, wondering what she was scheming. At this time, Giants of neither faction paid much attention to humans—after all, who would take a bunch of weaklings seriously? Even the Forces of Light adopted the attitude of: as long as you enjoy our protection in peace, that's enough.
Sleeping until you wake up naturally is also a form of enjoyment. I stepped out of the room and practiced my Sword Skill for a while to loosen up my joints. Skills like this still need to be practiced—who wouldn't want to advance further?
As noon approached, a knock sounded at the door. I opened it to find Youlian. What was she here for? So I asked, "A rare visitor! What brings you here?"
Youlian casually produced a card. "To thank you for your help last time, we've prepared some funds. You'll still need them to live in human society; without this, things get very troublesome. The PIN is eight ones. Having this will make things convenient."
"Showing gratitude? Then I won't stand on ceremony." I took the card, examined it—quite delicate—and continued, "Is there anything else?"
The implication was clear: if there's nothing else, get lost as fast as you can.
Youlian said, "Nothing else. If you have any needs, you can contact me at any time. If there's nothing else, I'll go take care of my business."
I nodded, not showing the slightest intention of asking her to stay, and watched her leave. No matter what your motives are, once the bait is swallowed and the hook spit out, I am still me. Not provoking me is the wisest choice.
I went out for a stroll in the city, browsing shops, restaurants, and malls one by one. Since I was out to play, naturally I had to enjoy myself. I spent over half a year just hanging out here. Aside from practicing swordsmanship, having fun was the main theme now. As for Monsters, what did they have to do with me?
During these days, Giants from both factions frequently dispatched forces to sweep away Monsters. A lot of them died, but the strange thing was that at least a fifth of the Monsters had mysteriously vanished.
The Giants of both factions frequently clashed with Monsters, suffering heavy losses as well. Each side lost nearly a hundred people, but Monsters were no longer a threat.
I had had enough fun and lost all interest. People in this world weren't all that different from anywhere else—they were all the same.
Returning to my courtyard, I began researching whether the internal breathing method was compatible with my current light and dark powers.
