Chapter 13

1,431 words7 minutes read

As soon as Ye Yun-kun spoke, the surrounding members of the Night Raiders froze for a moment.
Dark Mephisto was actually their former deputy captain, Mizoroki Shinya?
This was explosive news indeed.
Everyone very consciously turned their gazes toward Saijo Fubuki.
Saijo Fubuki still wore a cold expression. After a few seconds, she nodded with extreme stubbornness and said heavily, "Yes, I know it's Mizoroki Shinya! He tried to contact me recently, but I drove him away!"
"..."
The group looked at each other in dismay.
A completely harmless smile suddenly appeared on Ye Yun-kun's face.
"Deputy Captain Saijo, Mizoroki Shinya was heavily injured in our battle just now. I'm afraid he doesn't have much time left..."
Ye Yun-kun deliberately exaggerated to create a panic.
Sure enough, the muscles on Saijo Fubuki's stiff face twitched slightly.
Yet she kept her face cold and remained silent.
Ye Yun-kun continued, "Deputy Captain Saijo, Mizoroki Shinya's true nature hasn't completely sunk into the corruption of darkness. Otherwise, he wouldn't have helped you block Galberos's attack just now!"
"Ye Yun-kun, what on earth are you trying to say?"
Saijo Fubuki's eyes widened as she stared coldly at Ye Yun-kun.
"You guys..." Hiragi Shiori beside them also wore a look of shock, finding the gunpowder between the two of them exceptionally thick.
"I'm simply saying that if Mizoroki Shinya has any intention of turning toward the good, I hope Deputy Captain Saijo can help him completely walk out of the darkness, rather than being so heartless and unfeeling..."
Ye Yun-kun smiled, then turned and walked away.
Saijo Fubuki lowered her head.
She was carefully pondering the meaning behind Ye Yun-kun's words.
Recall her previous encounters with Mizoroki Shinya; Saijo Fubuki felt that his condition was not completely beyond saving.
"Perhaps Ye Yun-kun is right."
"Mizoroki Shinya still has hope of redemption."
Saijo Fubuki thought to herself.
Amidst the twilight of the setting sun, Ye Yun-kun walked slowly, a faint smile on his face.
He had finally managed to steer the plot back on track to some extent.
He hoped Saijo Fubuki would lend a hand once more, helping Mizoroki Shinya completely break free from the darkness.
And then, when facing Misawa Hiroki's Dark Mephisto Zeit, he could kill two birds with one stone.
Defeat two bosses and open two golden treasure chests back-to-back.
At the mere thought of that dazzling golden treasure chest, Ye Yun-kun felt his heart burn with fierce anticipation.
He wondered what kind of good stuff would drop from it.
Doing the math, the time should be about right.
Perhaps in just these past few days, the two Dark Mephistos were bound to encounter each other.
"Ye Yun-kun is amazing!"
Hiragi Shiori watched Ye Yun-kun's retreating figure. In the golden glow of the sunset, she felt that this man's back looked overwhelmingly cool.
Fighting three powerful opponents all by himself.
Seriously injuring one and killing two Space Beasts—this was truly an unimaginable and formidable battle record.
He was truly worthy of being someone from the future.
The rest of the Night Raiders members gazed at that dashing figure bathed in golden light, their hearts filled with deep admiration for Ye Yun-kun.
This was Ultraman Nexus!
The savior of humanity.
This was also Ye Yun-kun, who had traveled through time from the future!
The Successor of Light!
He helped humanity eliminate powerful Space Beasts and dark enemies.
They thought silently, watching the man in the light until he vanished entirely.
"Hehe!"
Ishibori Hikohiko, who had maintained a blank expression all along, raised his hand to stroke his chin as he watched Ye Yun-kun fade into the distance, flames leaping endlessly within the depths of his eyes.
These flames were actually pitch black.
Ye Yun-kun returned to the city.
He took a refreshing bath at the hotel, feeling completely invigorated and in an exceptionally pleasant mood.
Conquering two Space Beasts back-to-back today had left him feeling thoroughly rewarded.
He grew more and more expectant of the monsters to come.
Of course, what Ye Yun-kun looked forward to most was the treasure chests that would drop after the monsters died.
Right now, he was also full of hope for Silver Treasure Chests.
After all, his luck was sometimes truly too good; even Silver Treasure Chests managed to drop fantastic items for him.
Especially various cards.
They were simply so addictive that Ye Yun-kun loved them to death.
Ye Yun-kun sat on the sofa and turned on the television, just in time to see a news anchor broadcasting a report.
It said that somewhere in a valley in New Shinjuku, white mist frequently appeared, and quite a few people had gone missing while camping there.
Ye Yun-kun slapped his forehead.
It seemed this was the appearance of the Space Beast Vampila!
This particular Space Beast wasn't considered all that formidable, falling far short of the earlier Golza.
However, Vampila could release white mist and conceal its body within it, making it rather difficult to track down.
Vampila could also fire a dissolving ray.
According to Tsuburaya's official data, this dissolving ray claimed to be capable of dissolving anything.
After some thought, Ye Yun-kun decided there was no need to wait for a notification from the Night Raiders before taking action.
He had opened two silver treasure chests today... but it didn't seem quite enough to satisfy his craving.
He prepared to head straight to that valley, track down Vampila, and finish it off.
With that thought in mind, Ye Yun-kun got dressed, rushed up to the hotel roof, summoned his spacecraft, and sped directly toward that valley.
Before long, Ye Yun-kun arrived above the valley in New Shinjuku.
A vast expanse of white mist shrouded a large area of the valley. Ye Yun-kun sensed the energy fluctuations silently, but indeed failed to detect Vampila.
This white mist was capable of blocking the vibrational waves emitted by Space Beasts.
Yet Ye Yun-kun was not discouraged.
The valley was only so big, after all; sooner or later, he would run into Vampila.
An idea struck Ye Yun-kun, and he decided to appear in the valley in his human form.
Consider it playing the innocent little lamb once more.
Waiting for the big bad wolf to take the bait.
Descending into the valley, Ye Yun-kun held the Evoltruster and the Blast Shot in his hands respectively, walking slowly forward.
As long as Vampila approached within a fifty-meter radius of him, he should be able to sense those faint fluctuations.
The moment he discovered Vampila, Ye Yun-kun would transform instantly, deploy the Meta Field, trap it inside first, and then bring an end to Vampila's life.
He searched slowly.
Ten-odd minutes passed.
The mist drifted lazily through the valley, yet Ye Yun-kun still had not found a trace of Vampila.
He wasn't in a hurry.
Ye Yun-kun walked slowly toward the top of the mountain.
The mist near the summit was relatively thin.
At that moment, he noticed someone had pitched a tent at the peak.
A mat was also spread out on the ground, laid out with some food, wine, and beverages.
"These guys sure have nerve!"
Ye Yun-kun sighed inwardly. The television had repeatedly reported that people had gone missing in this mountainous region, so why on earth did they still come here to camp?
Ye Yun-kun intended to persuade these people to leave.
He strode forward quickly.
"Everyone, fierce beasts have been roaming this area recently, you should leave here immediately!"
Ye Yun-kun walked over and said unceremoniously.
"How could there possibly be fierce beasts? We come camping in this place all the time, this isn't our first time!"
A man stood up, looking displeased as he spoke to Ye Yun-kun.
The others also cast unfriendly glances at Ye Yun-kun.
Ye Yun-kun felt a trace of annoyance.
Were these people on the brink of death, yet completely oblivious to the approaching crisis?
Suddenly, the Evoltruster in his hand flashed with light.
"Huh, that toy of yours is pretty fun, doesn't it actually glow?"
A girl nearby looked at the Evoltruster with curiosity.
Ye Yun-kun ignored her.
At that moment, a white thread suddenly shot out at high speed from the mist further away.
This thread was as thick as an arm.
It blasted forth violently from a great distance and arrived right before them in an instant.
And the man standing right in front of him was instantly ensnared by the thread, being yanked back at high speed.
"What is this?"
Terror washed over the man's face as he flailed his limbs and let out a horrifying scream.
