Nuonuo nodded upon hearing Brother Chuyi’s words. So, besides her, only Qiuqiu could see Brother Chuyi. But why was that?
Brother Chuyi could read the expression on the little dumpling’s face clearly. Do all children have such intense curiosity? To stop Nuonuo from pondering it on her own, Chuyi explained, "All animals possess a spirit. That is also why Qiuqiu can sense the presence of the Spirit Child inside Lian Qianqian’s womb."
A look of realization dawned on Nuonuo’s small face. She looked down at the Qiuqiu in her hands and asked, "Qiuqiu, it turns out you’re so amazing!"
Upon hearing Nuonuo’s praise, Qiuqiu immediately looked proud, its fluffy tail nearly twitching up to the sky.
"You bet I am! Oh, right, Nuonuo, I came to you to complain. Last night, after you fell asleep, I went to find you, and that father of yours grabbed me and threw me out. I rolled several times! Look, look, I even got a big bump on my head."
Qiuqiu had not forgotten its purpose. It turned around in the palm of Nuonuo’s hand, deliberately showing her the bump on its head. Seeing Qiuqiu’s head, Nuonuo felt terribly sorry for it. She pursed her little lips and blew gently on the bump.
"Doesn't hurt, doesn't hurt. It's okay, Qiuqiu. Tonight, Nuonuo will give Daddy a good scolding. He can't treat Qiuqiu like that!"
As Nuonuo spoke, Qiuqiu nodded along. Exactly, exactly! How could he bully such a cute little animal?
Far away at the Li Corporation, where he was signing a contract, Li Lingxiao sneezed violently. The assistant hurriedly handed him a handkerchief. "Third Master, are you not feeling well?"
Li Lingxiao took the handkerchief and said coolly, "I’m fine." He just felt as if someone were gossiping about him behind his back.
Watching Qiuqiu complain was rather amusing to Chuyi, but to prevent it from distracting Nuonuo from her training, he reached out and lifted Qiuqiu from her palm.
"Hey, hey, hey, what do you think you're doing?"
Qiuqiu was genuinely frightened by the memory of being thrown and immediately began to struggle, terrified that Chuyi might toss it away the next second.
Chuyi kept a blank expression and said calmly, "I’m going to heal you."
Qiuqiu struggled even harder. "No, no! Don't you dare heal me!"
Chuyi frowned slightly. Has this squirrel’s brain been damaged from the fall? Take a look at that big bump on its head; does it look good?
Qiuqiu continued, "I don't want to be healed. I want to keep this bump so that when Li Lingxiao comes back, he can see exactly what he did to me last night."
Chuyi: "..."
This little thing—does it even weigh a pound? How is it so calculating?
Chuyi had no choice but to drop Qiuqiu onto the ground. Just as Qiuqiu was about to say something else to Nuonuo, Chuyi’s voice rang out again. "Nuonuo, don't you want to see your mommy sooner? Then continue practicing now; you still have so much to learn."
He might as well have just said that Qiuqiu was in the way.
Thinking of her mother, Nuonuo’s face immediately turned serious. "Qiuqiu, Nuonuo has to practice now. I'll come play with you when I'm finished."
Qiuqiu’s big tail slumped instantly. Fine, it would just play by itself.
After diligent practice, Nuonuo fully mastered the Levitation Technique. Chuyi looked at her with pride; the little dumpling’s talent was truly exceptional.
The butler, seeing their new young mistress talking to herself in the courtyard all day with an egg placed in front of her, felt a surge of pity. What on earth had the little mistress gone through these past few years? She was so young, yet her mind seemed a bit unstable.
The butler turned to prepare some food for her. Since she was back, they had to help her forget her old life. He went to the kitchen, had some cookies made, and brought them out for Nuonuo as a snack.
But just as he reached the front courtyard, he saw the egg in front of their young mistress suddenly float into the air. This was completely irrational!
The butler was so startled that the tray in his hands slipped.
"Nuonuo!"
Chuyi called out. Nuonuo turned immediately, her little fingers still held in the seal. She pointed her finger at the falling tray, and it instantly hovered in mid-air.
The butler’s mouth hung open even wider. How was this possible? This was totally unscientific. If Isaac Newton saw this, he’d flip in his grave.
Before Nuonuo could react, Chuyi’s voice sounded again. "Nuonuo, keep your fingers steady. Slowly raise your arms and return the tray to his hands."
Nuonuo nodded slightly, concentrating hard, and slowly guided the tray back into the butler’s hands. The butler stood stunned, his hands frozen in place, only coming to his senses when he felt the weight of the tray again.
"Butler Grandpa, be careful next time!" Nuonuo said with a giggle, releasing her seal.
The butler nodded repeatedly. "My apologies, Young Mistress. I'll go get a fresh one." He turned to head back to the kitchen.
Nuonuo stepped forward, tugged on his hem, and frowned slightly. "No need, Butler Grandpa. Nuonuo is happy with this one!"
The butler wanted to say something, but the next second, the tray in his hands floated into the air on its own and drifted slowly toward the small pavilion in the courtyard. Seeing Chuyi carrying the plate away, Nuonuo let go of the butler’s hem and skipped off to join him.
Only the butler remained standing in the same spot, staring blankly as Nuonuo and a floating tray headed toward the pavilion. The world had gone mad!
Ignoring the butler’s look of astonishment, Chuyi carried the tray into the pavilion. He had already smelled the fragrance and was starving.
Nuonuo followed him into the pavilion. Before she could even sit down, Chuyi eagerly stuffed a cookie into his mouth. A burst of chocolate flavor blossomed, and he wore a look of total satisfaction on his handsome face.
Watching his expression, Nuonuo’s large eyes turned into little crescent moons. She asked sweetly, "Brother Chuyi, is it delicious?"
Chuyi made a fist, held it to his lips, and coughed slightly. "It's average."
He couldn't act like he’d never seen the world in front of Nuonuo; that would be too embarrassing.
Nuonuo looked at him, puzzled. If Brother Chuyi thought it was just average, why did he stuff two more into his mouth? How strange. But she didn't think much of it; she took one and bit into it—it was delicious! Ah, she understood now: Brother Chuyi must have eaten many wonderful things, which was why he found this taste just so-so.
Having figured it out, the little girl looked at Chuyi with instant admiration.
Chuyi, his mouth full, suddenly felt a scorching gaze. He looked down to see the little dumpling gazing at him with such adoration that he was momentarily bewildered. But he quickly put on an arrogant face. Regardless of why the little dumpling was looking at him that way, it was best to play along. One couldn't lose face.
