Chapter 9

Having just arrived at Kunlun Mountain, Ji Yunsheng knew he was very strong, but beyond that, he had no idea just how powerful he actually was. Looking out at the vast expanse of Kunlun Mountain, he thought with a helpless sigh: Kunlun Mountain is so huge, how am I supposed to find what I'm looking for? Do I really have to search it all the way through, inch by inch?
With that, he slowly started walking toward the mountain. Just as he was about to step onto the path, a series of alarm sirens blared, and a voice shouted at him: "Hey, you in the black jacket! Stop right there! If you don't halt immediately, we will be forced to take action!"
Ji Yunsheng immediately stopped in his tracks, turned around, and looked over. Oh! It turned out to be the military garrison stationed at Kunlun Mountain! He then walked over in the direction of the soldiers. As he approached, a middle-aged man with the rank of a First Lieutenant walked up to him and demanded: "I am Yang Fan, a junior officer of the Kunlun Mountain Guard. Who are you, and what are you doing running around Kunlun Mountain?"
Ji Yunsheng replied: "My name is Ji Yunsheng, and I'm from Yunnan. I came to Kunlun Mountain because I wanted to go inside and see if cultivators actually exist."
The other soldiers nearby covered their mouths and snickered quietly. Yang Fan gave this young man in his early twenties a speechless look, thinking to himself: *Has this kid been reading too many xianxia novels? He actually believes this stuff!*
Aloud, he said: "Ji Yunsheng, is it? Young man, I think you've been reading way too many novels! You actually believe in things like cultivators!"
Ji Yunsheng thought for a moment and said, "Whether they're real or not, you only know after you see for yourself. Besides, I am a cultivator myself. Would you like me to prove it to you?"
Yang Fan chuckled and said, "And how exactly do you plan to prove you're a cultivator?"
Not wanting to waste any more words, Ji Yunsheng simply said, "Watch closely!"
With that, Ji Yunsheng looked at a large boulder not far away, raised his hand, and pointed right at it. The others saw what looked like a beam of light shoot out from Ji Yunsheng's finger straight toward the boulder.
*Bang!*
With a loud explosion, the huge boulder shattered into pieces all over the ground, startling them out of their wits. Everyone stood there completely dumbfounded, thinking: *What the hell is going on? Holy shit, cultivators are actually real?!*
Looking utterly shocked, Yang Fan stammered: "So you're a senior Grandmaster from the Martial Arts Association! I've long heard that there are extraordinary masters in the Martial Arts Association capable of shattering stones with their inner qi. Seeing it today, it really lives up to the legend!"
Ji Yunsheng was equally surprised. *There's actually a department like this in the country, and people like this exist?* He replied, "I'm not with any Martial Arts Association, and I've never heard of any Martial Arts Grandmasters."
Yang Fan thought to himself with disbelief: *Could he be a rogue cultivator Grandmaster?*
Seeing the look of astonishment on Yang Fan's face, Ji Yunsheng said, "Stop guessing. I'm not any kind of Grandmaster. I'm a cultivator, exactly like the ones written about in novels!"
Yang Fan asked in shock, "You mean cultivators aren't just fictional?"
Ji Yunsheng suddenly remembered to ask: "What is a Martial Arts Grandmaster, anyway? And what is this Martial Arts Association?"
Yang Fan answered: "A Martial Arts Grandmaster is a martial artist who has trained to a certain level where they can project their true qi externally, making them immune to ordinary bullets. The Martial Arts Association is an organization formed and created by powerful Martial Arts Grandmasters. I've also heard that there are Innate Martial Artists who are even stronger than Grandmasters. They say Innate Martial Artists can soar through the skies, burrow through the earth, and take a life from a thousand miles away without leaving a trace."
After hearing this, Ji Yunsheng thought: *So that's how it is... but honestly, isn't this a bit weak? Aren't Innate Martial Artists basically just at the Qi Condensation Stage of cultivation?*
Then he asked, "Can I go into Kunlun now?"
"Please go right ahead, Senior!" Yang Fan replied. He knew better than to offend such a powerful practitioner, especially since his own grandfather was a Martial Arts Grandmaster, so he no longer tried to stop Ji Yunsheng.
After Ji Yunsheng left, Yang Fan instructed his subordinates to submit an incident report, and then he called his father.
Seeing the call coming in, Yang Fan's father, Yang Changtian, answered and asked: "Fan'er, what's wrong? Did something happen?"
After Yang Fan reported the encounter with Ji Yunsheng to his father, Yang Changtian thought: *So that's what happened. Good thing he didn't offend such an expert, or the family would have been in deep trouble! By the way, Fan'er, did you get contact information for the senior?*
Only then did Yang Fan remember that he had forgotten to get the expert's phone number. Looking thoroughly awkward, he replied: "Father, I was so shocked by the senior's abilities that I forgot to ask for his contact details."
Yang Changtian said speechlessly: "Fan'er, if that expert comes back out of Kunlun Mountain, you must befriend him!" Yang Changtian knew that if it weren't for the fact that his own father was a Grandmaster, the position of family head would never have gone to him. Being able to befriend any Grandmaster would only benefit him and make his position within the family much more secure. After all, his own martial arts cultivation was mediocre—he had only just reached the Mid Martial Artist level, which wasn't even as good as his son's talent! His son, already in his thirties, was a Peak Late Martial Artist on the verge of stepping into the half-step Martial Arts Grandmaster realm.
Hearing his father's instructions, Yang Fan said: "Understood, Father!" With that, he went back to continuing his patrol of the Kunlun Mountain range.
