Chen Muye walked forward.
What was Li Shujin doing here today?
Could it be that she wanted to pet the "cat" again?
Come to think of it, girls naturally loved cute things like cats and dogs.
Just as Chen Muye was about to ask, Li Shujin pulled a large thermal pot out of the passenger seat.
She looked at Chen Muye and said, "Grandpa simmered some bone broth and told me to bring it over for you to drink, so your hand will heal faster."
Chen Muye hadn't expected Li Shujin to come bearing food.
This made him feel quite embarrassed.
While he and Grandpa Li had a good bond, he wasn't actually the old man's real grandson.
Yet Grandpa Li was helping treat his injuries and sending him food.
Probably even a real grandson wouldn't get this kind of treatment from Grandpa Li.
Besides, Li Shujin kept bringing him things all the time.
He could tell that Li Shujin truly cared about him.
For a moment, Chen Muye didn't know what to say.
Grandpa Li and Li Shujin were treating him so well that if he didn't die and come back to life in three months, it would honestly feel a bit ungrateful.
Chen Muye took the thermal pot from Li Shujin with his left hand.
"Ah, Shujin, you and Grandpa care about me so much, I'm starting to feel embarrassed."
Li Shujin smiled and pulled two bags of fruit out of the car.
"Don't mention it. Oh, right, let me tell you some good news."
"Huh? What good news?"
"Let's bring the stuff inside first. Grandpa told me to watch you finish the soup with my own eyes, so you can drink while I tell you."
"Alright."
The two of them brought the items into the house.
When Li Shujin caught sight of the panda cub, her eyes lit up as if she had just discovered some priceless treasure.
She quickly helped Chen Muye set everything down, and then joined Jiang Yourong in teasing the panda.
She completely forgot about the good news she had just mentioned to Chen Muye.
Chen Muye was speechless.
He even suspected that Li Shujin had come over just to pet his Tiedan.
Otherwise, how could she get amnesia the moment she laid eyes on Tiedan?
Shaking his head, he ignored Li Shujin and buried himself in drinking the bone broth Grandpa Li had personally brewed for him.
Soon, he finished the soup.
Li Shujin was still playing with Tiedan alongside Jiang Yourong, and Chen Muye joined in as well.
Ten minutes or so later, the three of them had worn out their welcome, and Tiedan got a bit annoyed.
It buried its head right into Chen Muye's arms and refused to come out no matter what.
Seeing this, the two young women were consumed by jealousy.
They had been playing with the panda cub for so long, yet it had never once burrowed into their arms.
How long had Chen Muye even been playing with it?
However, considering that Tiedan was a national treasure, neither of them dared to pull or drag it away forcibly.
They could only let it whimper softly in Chen Muye's arms.
Li Shujin looked at Jiang Yourong and asked, "Sister Rong, does this panda have a name yet?"
Jiang Yourong smiled. "It's a wild panda, so we aren't going to give it a name. Who knows, its mother might come looking for it tonight."
Li Shujin nodded and cast a reluctant glance at the panda cub.
"Sigh, if its mother comes for it, I won't be able to see it anymore."
Chen Muye stroked Tiedan's head, thinking to himself: *Don't worry, you'll still get to see it in the future.*
After a brief thought, he suggested, "How about we give it a name right now?"
Jiang Yourong pondered this and said, "There's no need, is there? What if its mother comes looking for it tonight?"
Chen Muye looked nonchalant. "We'll cross that bridge when we get there. Besides, hasn't it not arrived yet?"
Li Shujin chimed in, "Yeah! Since the panda is still here, why don't we give it a name for fun?"
Jiang Yourong had wanted to say something else, but she figured there was no real need.
If it were a captive panda raised by the state, they wouldn't have a say in naming it.
Since this one was wild, there was no harm in the three of them picking a fun name for it.
The panda might just go back to nature in a few days anyway.
Having reasoned this out, Jiang Yourong looked at Chen Muye and Li Shujin.
"So, what names do you think sound good?"
Li Shujin thought about it for a moment. "How about Duoduo? There's a panda named Huahua over in Sichuan that's super cute. Let's match it as a pair. What do you think, Sister Rong?"
Jiang Yourong nodded in approval. "That's a pretty nice name. What do you think, Mr. Chen?"
Chen Muye smiled. "Sister Rong, you don't have to be so polite with me. Just call me Little Chen."
"Alright."
"I think it looks round and chubby, so let's call it Tiedan."
As soon as he spoke, Li Shujin and Jiang Yourong both rolled their eyes at him simultaneously.
"Who names someone like that?!"
"Exactly."
Chen Muye looked at Tiedan and laughed. "Cheap names are easier to raise."
"Even so, you can't name it Tiedan."
"Right, the name Tiedan doesn't sound like a panda at all."
Chen Muye spread his hands. "Then how about we let it choose for itself which name it wants?"
"How do we let it choose?" Li Shujin asked.
"You guys call it Duoduo, and I'll call it Tiedan. If it responds to you, it picks your name; if it responds to me, it picks mine. How about that?"
"It's definitely going to respond to us," Li Shujin said, full of confidence.
Jiang Yourong stood on Li Shujin's side.
"Alright, let's begin. You two call out first."
With that, Chen Muye set Tiedan down to the side.
Li Shujin and Jiang Yourong stared at it and chanted repeatedly, "Duoduo, Duoduo look here, Duoduo..."
After calling out for ages, the panda ignored them entirely.
A smile appeared on Chen Muye's face. Taking advantage of a break in their shouting, he called out, "Tiedan."
"Ying ying ying."
Tiedan immediately let out a spoiled, whining sound and waddled over to Chen Muye, begging to be picked up.
Seeing this, Li Shujin and Jiang Yourong flew into a fury.
"No way! It cannot be called Tiedan!" Li Shujin insisted firmly.
Chen Muye spread his hands. "It chose that name itself."
Li Shujin refused to give up. She moved closer to Tiedan and kept calling, "Duoduo, Duoduo, answer me, Duoduo, Duoduo..."
Tiedan remained completely indifferent.
Chen Muye spoke up again: "Tiedan."
"Ying ying ying."
While whimpering cutely, Tiedan rubbed affectionately against Chen Muye, acting as though it clearly knew he was calling it.
Li Shujin: *Um...*
Jiang Yourong was also left between laughter and tears, and she added, "Wait, it's a female panda, are we really going to name it Tiedan?"
"Huh?"
Chen Muye froze instantly.
Tiedan didn't have any eggs?
Then why call it Tiedan?
She should have told him it was a girl earlier!
If he had known sooner, he wouldn't have given Tiedan this name.
He opened his system interface, wanting to change Tiedan's name.
[Ding! Already named, cannot be changed.]
Chen Muye: *Um...*
It couldn't be changed.
He looked at Li Shujin and Jiang Yourong. "How about we just leave it as is? You guys try calling it, I think it really likes this name."
Li Shujin and Jiang Yourong rolled their eyes at him once more.
A moment later, Li Shujin tentatively called out, "Tiedan?"
"Ying ying ying."
Li Shujin: *Pfft!*
It actually accepted the name!
Jiang Yourong also gave it a try and called, "Tiedan."
"Ying ying ying."
Jiang Yourong: ......
She thought to herself: *Well, at least it's a wild panda. Once it leaves, the name Tiedan will cease to exist anyway.*
After playing with Tiedan for a little longer, Li Shujin prepared to head home.
Just as she was about to leave, she still hadn't remembered to tell Chen Muye the good news.
In the end, Chen Muye had no choice but to remind her.
"Shujin, didn't you say you had some good news to tell me earlier? What is it?"
