The valley had now taken on an apocalyptic appearance. Thick smoke hung like a heavy haze over the space, and the pungent odor pricked at everyone's noses and lungs like countless tiny needles, making it difficult to breathe. Every breath felt tinged with the metallic tang of blood. The surrounding peaks looked as though they had suffered a devastating catastrophe, riddled with countless holes beyond recognition. Fractured rocks were scattered everywhere—some as massive as the remains of ancient beasts, others pulverized into fine dust—silently testifying to the fierce battle that had just taken place, a collision of forces mighty enough to shake heaven and earth. Under the merciless and continuous bombardment of the ship's energy cannons, the golden light barrier trembled violently like a frail skiff struggling in the midst of a violent tempest. Its glow grew dimmer and dimmer, resembling a candle about to burn out, ready to be swallowed entirely by the darkness at any moment. Those streams of golden light shooting out from the barrier resembled a pack of enraged light beasts, charging toward the starship with unstoppable momentum. Wherever the beams passed, the air was instantly ignited, the scorching heat causing a sizzling sound and leaving behind winding, glowing trails like fiery snakes, as if trying to burn unhealing wounds into the space itself.
