The Dali Kingdom was a multi-ethnic local regime dominated by the Bai people, established during the period from the Five Dynasties to the Song Dynasty. The Bai-speaking Dali Kingdom was a multi-ethnic regime established in the southwestern region during Chinese history. In the seventh year of the Daming era of Nanzhao, Duan Siping, the Pacification Commissioner of Dayining Tonghai, united with Gao Fang and Dong Jialuo, nobles from the Erhai region, to overthrow the Dayining state. He established his capital at Yangzhimie City (present-day Dali, Yunzhou) and named the country "Dali," historically known as "Former Dali." Its territory covered present-day Yunzhou and southwestern Qianzhou in Huaxia, as well as parts of northern Myanmar, Laos, and Northern Vietnam. Prime Minister Gao Shengtai subsequently usurped the throne, changing the country's name to "Dazhong." Passing away the following year, he returned power to Duan Zhengchun, historically known as "Later Dali." In 1254, the Dali Kingdom was conquered by the Great Mongol Empire, and Duan Xingzhi, the ruler of Dali, was appointed as the hereditary Administrator of Dali.
