Along the way, whenever Luo Jiang saw poorly equipped troops, he would hand over large quantities of weapons, ammunition, and various strategic supplies. The soldiers of the Kuomintang Army were fine men—they fought bravely, fearless of sacrifice, willing to drag the Japanese devils down with them even in death. Their high-ranking officers, however, left much to be desired.
After spotting the Kuomintang Army's staging area, Luo Jiang finally left the frontline battlefield. The various armies participating in the Battle of Xuzhou all picked up massive amounts of weapons and ammunition along the road; only the Kuomintang Army's central-line elite forces received nothing.
Once the fighting broke out, the various armies, now well-stocked with weapons and ammunition and equipped identically to the Japanese soldiers with mortars, infantry guns, grenade launchers, and light and heavy machine guns, immediately sent the Japanese reeling in disorientation.
