After wiping out the enemy artillerymen, he decided to eliminate the patrolling soldiers as well, seize the artillery position, and then use the cannons to bombard the enemy or use the infantry guns for direct fire to destroy their tanks.
As for how to adjust the coordinates for the cannons, he felt it wasn't particularly difficult. After all, he could use his Divine Sense to inspect the internal structure of the cannons and figure it out after a few tries. He didn't realize, however, that one needed an observer to provide coordinates when firing, or how else would one know where the targets were?
The artillery position had six squads of patrols, with no more than a hundred meters between them. It was fortunate that it was night, as visibility was limited. In daylight, the rear patrols would have been able to see the backs of the squads ahead. Of course, in daylight, there wouldn't be so many patrols inside the artillery position itself; there would only be sentries stationed around the perimeter.
