Luo Jiang was spending his first Lunar New Year in Beiping City. Ever since his master and senior brothers had left, he hadn't celebrated the New Year; he had spent the time outside, cultivating and recovering from injuries, and had never really seen what the festival looked like. This year, however, he finally didn't have to spend the holiday alone. On the twentieth day of the twelfth lunar month, snow began to flutter from the sky. It started as a light, scattered dusting, but by noon, it had turned into a heavy snowfall, with flakes as large as goose feathers, quickly blanketing the ground in white. For the past few years, ever since the Japanese occupied Beiping City, the price of grain and meat had skyrocketed.
