Ah Gui's face, half-covered in tattoos, twisted as he smiled, and his large hand grabbed the little chubby boy's head and slammed it into a plate.
With a loud crash.
The entire dining table shook violently.
"What are you doing? Have a death wish? This is private trespassing! I'm calling the police!" Zhang Dazhi, Tietou's bald cousin, stood up and immediately pulled out his phone to dial the police.
The blind man's ears twitched.
He plucked a button from his cuff.
His shoulder jerked.
The button flew out.
Instantly knocking the phone flying.
The man trembled in terror.
Wang Han held the little girl tightly in his arms, gently patting her back as tears streamed down her face. "Don't be afraid, Uncle is here."
The old man outside the door watched in stunned silence.
Wang Han picked up the little girl and stepped inside.
The little girl opened her arms. "Daddy, Daddy."
Maitreya handed over Tietou's funeral portrait. The little girl clutched the photo frame, her tears continuously dripping onto it, while she persistently wiped away the moisture with her sleeve.
Wang Han sat down, holding the little girl.
He kicked the little chubby boy aside and stroked the little girl's head. "What do you want to eat?"
The little girl had eyes only for the photo frame, wiping it with her sleeve as tears fell like a broken thread. "Daddy, Daddy."
"Who the hell are you guys? Do you believe I'll report you for trespassing!" the man roared angrily.
For the first time, Wang Han's gaze fell upon the man. "Tietou was my brother."
The man quietly reached for a watermelon cleaver on the table.
With a hideous expression, he said, "And?"
"We're here to see his daughter."
"Is this how you fucking come to see her?"
Wang Han looked at the table full of lavish dishes. "You occupied my brother's property, under the noble guise of raising my brother's daughter, and this is how you raise her? Making such a little child live outside and eat leftover, spoiled food—are you even human?"
Zhang Dazhi glared angrily at Wang Han and the others, waving the watermelon cleaver in his hand. "How we want to raise her is our family's business! Even if we made her live in a dumpster and eat slop, what the fuck business is it of yours? Get the fuck out of our house!"
"This is my brother's house! Not yours."
"It's my house now! Get out of my house!" Zhang Dazhi pointed the watermelon cleaver at Wang Han and the others.
Maitreya walked toward Zhang Dazhi.
His body pressed right against the blade of the watermelon cleaver.
Zhang Dazhi panicked. "I'm warning you, take another step forward and I'll cut you!"
Maitreya took another step forward.
"You asked for this! Don't blame me if you die!"
Maitreya took yet another step forward.
The soft fear the hard, the hard fears the fierce, the fierce fears the reckless, and the reckless fear those who treat their lives like a game.
Wang Han's crew consisted entirely of men who played for keeps.
Trash like Zhang Dazhi wasn't even worth considering.
"Keep coming and I really will attack! You fucking think I wouldn't dare?" Zhang Dazhi roared, looking vicious.
Maitreya grabbed Zhang Dazhi's wrist and pressed the watermelon cleaver against his own neck. "Do it!"
When Zhang Dazhi met Maitreya's icy glare, he instantly lost his nerve. "I'm warning you! Don't think I won't do it!"
"Do it!" Maitreya roared.
Maitreya, whose face was usually wreathed in smiles, looked at this moment like a wrathful guardian deity.
Zhang Dazhi trembled with terror.
Maitreya grabbed Zhang Dazhi's head and violently smashed it against the wall.
With a heavy thud!
Zhang Dazhi's forehead was covered in blood.
He was scared out of his wits.
Wang Han wiped the little girl's tears. "Wanna come with Uncle?"
The little girl sobbed continuously.
She clutched the photo frame to her chest.
Her wide, watery eyes fixed on Wang Han.
Wang Han wiped away her tears and asked softly, "Wanna come?"
The little girl nodded.
Wang Han looked at Zhang Dazhi. "We will raise the child."
Zhang Dazhi's wife, Ma Xiaofang, shrieked, "By what right do you get custody? What the hell do you think you are? Don't think we don't know—you're just after the money! We won't give you custody! The house, the car, and the savings are all ours! You won't get a single cent!"
Lei Xiaohua delivered a whip kick straight to Ma Xiaofang's face.
Half of Ma Xiaofang's teeth were instantly kicked out.
"We're going to sue you! We're going to sue you for trespassing and malicious assault! We'll make sure you rot in prison for the rest of your lives!" Ma Xiaofang screamed.
Wang Han gently patted the little girl's back.
"Let them go."
"Boss, let's just finish off this family of three. Trash like this doesn't deserve to live." Lei Xiaofang had already developed a murderous intent.
"Mere ants, not worth it. Let's use legal means to get custody of the little girl."
With that, Wang Han added, "And take back all of Tietou's inheritance. It's the only thing Tietou left behind for his daughter."
"I'll handle it." The blind man took out his phone.
"You're having pipe dreams! You won't get a single cent of Chengqiang's money! It's all ours! All ours! The people who handle the paperwork are already bought and paid for!"
Lei Xiaofang kicked Ma Xiaofang to the ground with a single blow.
Before long.
A group of judicial officials arrived.
When Zhang Dazhi saw the man leading them, he eagerly shouted in excitement, "Old Liu, it's me! Quick, have these people arrested. None of them are any good—they trespassed and beat us up."
To his surprise, Old Liu gave Zhang Dazhi a cold look. "Zhang Dazhi, we received reports that you two are suspected of child abuse and maliciously misappropriating someone else's property. You need to come with us."
Panicking, Zhang Dazhi shouted, "Bullshit! You're talking bullshit! Are you blind? Didn't you see them trespass and beat people up?"
Instead, he only received a cold response. "The house doesn't belong to you; you are the ones who trespassed! They were merely acting in self-defense."
Zhang Dazhi rolled his eyes back in sheer rage and passed out cold.
The paperwork was processed very quickly.
However, when it came to filling in the guardian's name.
The men hesitated for a moment.
Wang Han picked up the pen. "I'll do it."
Lei Xiaofang said, "Boss, you're so busy every day, when would you have time? Let me take her. My family has some money, I can give her the best of everything."
Ah Gui chimed in, "Better let me do it. Xiao Hua is out chasing a hedonistic lifestyle every day—careful he ruins the kid. I'll take her abroad to broaden her horizons."
Maitreya glanced at them. "You two are cut from the same cloth. She should come with me instead; my family holds some weight in the southeastern coastal region. With me around, the little girl can live a carefree life."
"Maitreya, stop laughing at them, you're no better. You've never even held a woman's hand, do you know how to raise a kid? She should come with me. The little girl will come to the military compound, I'll protect her, and no one will dare lay a hand on her," the blind man put in.
Lei Xiaofang grinned and said, "How about this? Let the little girl choose who she wants to go with."
The men all looked at the little girl at the same time. "Sweetie, which uncle do you want to go with?"
Chapter 29: Are You Okay?
The little girl's watery eyes swept over the unfamiliar uncles.
Although none of the uncles looked like particularly good people at first glance, the little girl could clearly sense not a single ounce of malice from them.
Her gaze swept around the room and finally landed back on Wang Han. She pressed her head against Wang Han's chest, her tiny hands clutching his clothes.
The meaning was already crystal clear.
"Damn it! My dream of being a dad is shattered just like that!" Lei Xiaofang wailed.
"Oh, give it a rest. You're out partying and carousing day and night; you'll be burning high incense just to have a seed of your own later on. You think you deserve such a cute daughter?" Ah Gui teased.
Lei Xiaofang had a cigarette clamped between his lips, though he hadn't lit it with a child present. "Man, speaking of which, Ah Gui, if I really end up without any descendants in the future, would you be able to call me dad?"
"Fuck off, you motherfucker!"
Lei Xiaofang chuckled. "Since the little girl is sticking with the Boss, that settles it. Boss, if the little girl has any financial issues..."
Ah Gui interrupted, "The Boss runs so many international brands abroad. Do you think the Boss is short on cash?"
Lei Xiaofang pushed up the bridge of his glasses. "Damn it!"
The blind man laughed. "Whatever we have, the Boss has. Looked at that way, the Boss really is the most suitable among us."
Maitreya checked the time. "Let's go grab a bite. Our flight is tonight."
"In such a hurry?" Wang Han was holding the little girl.
The others nodded. "Boss, there's a lot going on back home. We basically snuck out just to come here."
After the meal, they chatted and joked around for a bit.
Wang Han drove them to the airport.
The little girl's name was Guoguo.
From start to finish, she clung tightly to Wang Han.
Wang Han's old-father heart was completely melted by this cute little girl.
The old man had only told Wang Han to deliver food to polish away his fierce aura, but delivering food for so long hadn't had half the effect of holding this little girl for a single afternoon.
All of his menacing aura was completely reined in.
Guoguo was already in kindergarten.
Wang Han's place was a bit far from Guoguo's kindergarten, so with Guoguo's consent, he transferred the little girl to an elite school closest to his home.
It was also the top school in Jiangning City.
It covered everything from kindergarten all the way through high school.
Even though the tuition was extremely high, Wang Han didn't care about money at all.
With such a cute and sensible daughter, let alone five thousand a month, Wang Han would gladly spend a million if he had to.
Wang Han had Lin Qingyun handle the transfer paperwork.
In the morning, Wang Han took Guoguo by the hand and walked her to kindergarten.
At the school gate, Wang Han rubbed Guoguo's little head. "Sweetie, if anything happens, use your Little Genius watch to call your godfather."
Guoguo nodded.
"Let's go meet your teacher."
"Okay." Guoguo nodded in a milky voice.
Entering the office, the principal had been waiting for a while and hurried over to shake Wang Han's hand. "Hello, Mr. Wang!"
Wang Han put on a business smile. "Hello, Principal Duan."
Principal Duan cut straight to the point. "Shall we have the child's teacher come over and take her to get used to the environment?"
"Okay!"
"Teacher Xia! Could you come in for a moment?"
A female teacher walked in from outside the office.
Graceful and slender, with three thousand strands of dark hair cascading down her shoulders, she wore a floral-patterned dress. Her full chest strained the fabric, and her long, tender white legs drew envious glances as she moved. Wearing white low-heeled sandals, she was tall and gave off a fresh, bright, and radiant beauty.
"Mr. Wang, this is your beloved daughter's teacher, Xia..."
Before he could finish, the female teacher looked at Wang Han in pleasant surprise. "Big Brother Wang, why is it you?"
Wang Han was also baffled. To bump into Xia Wanying here yet again—talk about fate opening a door for fate, fate had arrived right at the doorstep.
"Turns out you're a teacher," Wang Han said with a smile.
Xia Wanying looked at Guoguo. "Is this your daughter?"
"Mm."
A trace of melancholy flashed across Xia Wanying's expression. She then squatted down to straighten Guoguo's clothes. "I'm your teacher, hello there."
Guoguo said in a milky voice, "Hello, Teacher."
"Shall I take the child to get used to the environment first?"
"Okay."
Xia Wanying held one of Guoguo's hands, while Wang Han held the other, and the two of them walked toward the classroom.
Principal Duan watched this scene from behind, stunned for a moment, and muttered to himself, "They actually look quite well-matched."
Standing outside the door, watching Xia Wanying quickly help Guoguo integrate into the environment, Wang Han finally felt at ease.
Waving goodbye to Guoguo, Wang Han left the gates, donned his yellow robe, and went off to deliver food.
In the afternoon.
Wang Han didn't even change his clothes before going to pick Guoguo up from school.
Riding his e-bike across the street, Wang Han saw Xia Wanying holding Guoguo's hand.
Xia Wanying waved at Wang Han, and Wang Han waved back in acknowledgment.
"Guoguo, wave to Daddy." Xia Wanying crouched down in front of Guoguo.
"Daddy Wang!" Guoguo waved.
Wang Han waved back as well.
Xia Wanying paused for a second. "Guoguo, why do you call him Daddy Wang?"
" Because Daddy Wang isn't my real daddy. My real daddy went to another world."
Xia Wanying paused once more, then hugged Guoguo, gently patting her back.
"Guoguo has Daddy Wang from now on, and Teacher too, and little playmates."
"Mm."
There was a slope right in front of the school gate.
Some reckless driver had parked their car by the roadside and gone to a small shop to buy things.
They hadn't pulled the handbrake.
The car slowly began to roll backward down the slope.
Its speed picking up more and more.
Faster and faster.
Until it headed straight for Xia Wanying and Guoguo.
People on both sides of the road shouted in panic.
Xia Wanying snapped out of her daze.
She saw the car getting closer and closer.
She wanted to grab Guoguo and get out of the way.
But as she tried to stand up, moving a bit too fast, a wave of dizziness hit her and she squatted right back down.
Watching the car aggressively barreling toward them.
Xia Wanying hugged Guoguo, shielding her underneath to act as a human cushion.
At the very critical moment of life and death,
A figure shot across the street on an e-bike. As he got close to the vehicle,
He threw his weight sideways, sending the e-bike flying.
The e-bike wedged itself squarely underneath the car.
The vehicle jolted to a sharp halt before sliding backward a bit.
Wang Han punched through the car window and pulled the handbrake.
The rear bumper of the car stopped practically brushing against Xia Wanying.
Xia Wanying's face was slightly pale.
While her mind was still completely blank,
Wang Han's voice rang out. "Are you okay?"
Xia Wanying snapped back to reality. "I'm fine."
Wang Han reached out a hand. With a flicker of emotion in her eyes, Xia Wanying reached out to take it.
Instead, Wang Han reached past her and scooped up Guoguo. "You okay, sweetie?"
Xia Wanying's hand remained awkwardly suspended in mid-air. Her face, already pale, flushed red with embarrassment. She hurriedly pulled back her hand and scrambled up. "Big Brother Wang, thank you. You saved me again."
"Don't mention it. As long as everyone is safe."
Principal Duan came running over in a flurry.
He only let out a sigh of relief when he saw everyone was unharmed.
The car owner was a slightly plump woman with instant-noodle hair and a large mole on her lip. She rushed over anxiously. "Oh my, Teacher Xia, you scared the life out of me! Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, Dongdong's mom."
The woman glanced down at Guoguo. "Oh my, the little girl must have been terrified too! Should Auntie apologize to you?"
Guoguo shook her head. "Not scared."
"So cute. Where are your parents? I need to apologize to them in person." The woman pinched Guoguo's cheek.
"I'm her father," Wang Han spoke up.
To his surprise, the woman's face immediately dropped. "Really?"
Xia Wanying nodded. "It's true, Dongdong's mom. This is the child's father."
The woman looked Wang Han up and down. "Why would an elite school have the daughter of a food delivery guy?"
Chapter 30: Donating Money
Hearing this, Wang Han was instantly displeased.
"What do you mean by 'an elite school having the daughter of a food delivery guy'?"
Seeing that Wang Han was just a delivery driver, the woman immediately lost the humble attitude she had just worn. If it were the daughter of someone wealthy and powerful, she wouldn't dare provoke them, but she certainly dared to mess with a delivery guy.
So what if she hit someone?
At worst, she'd just pay a bit of money in damages.
"This is an elite school! The child's expenses alone come to over five thousand a month. How much can a delivery guy like you possibly make in a month? Isn't it a bit too delusional of you to harbor such unrealistic expectations for your kid?" the woman sneered.
The moment this woman opened her mouth, Wang Han knew exactly what kind of person she was—just some trash who thought she was hot stuff simply because she had a little money.
"How much money I spend... What school I choose to let my daughter attend is my business. I'm willing to do it." Holding his daughter in his arms, Wang Han didn't want to lose his temper and risk setting a bad example for the child.
Knowing some of Wang Han's background, Xia Wanying glanced at Zhuang Dafang. "Dongdong's mom, stop arguing. Everyone has the right to attend this school; it has nothing to do with what the parents do for a living."
Principal Duan also hurried over to smooth things over. "This parent, that remark of yours was out of line. Our school has always upheld equal treatment. Whatever the child's parents do for a living, we should respect them. We shouldn't look down on any profession."
He didn't dare *not* help speak up; this guy was connected to that shadowy billionaire in Jiangning City. Glancing at Zhuang Dafang, he sneered inwardly: How much money does your family even have, acting like such a big shot in front of this person?
Seeing that both Principal Duan and Xia Wanying were speaking up for Wang Han, Zhuang Dafang let out a scoff. "I know that, but delivery guys don't make much in a month anyway. Spending this much money to send her here just isn't worth it. Anyway, my car got scraped, and the window was smashed. How are we going to settle that?"
Zhuang Dafang looked at Wang Han with a smug smile.
Seeing this, Xia Wanying offered, "How about this, Dongdong's mom, I'll pay for the car repairs."
Wang Han immediately interjected, "Why should you pay? Here's what we'll do—call the traffic police right now and let's see what they have to say about this."
Zhuang Dafang instantly wilted. After all, she was the idiot who forgot to pull the handbrake, and her runaway car had almost injured someone. Even if the traffic police came, she was in the wrong.
Stubbornly letting out a cold snort, she said, "Such a cheapskate! Whatever you bust your hump to make in a month probably won't even be left after paying tuition. But I'm a magnanimous person and I don't like to nitpick. Teacher Xia, I'll pay for the car repairs myself."
"Well, since you're so magnanimous, my e-bike got scraped too. You can cover the repair costs for that as well. The repair fee for my two-wheeled luxury vehicle is five hundred."
Zhuang Dafang immediately crossed her arms. "Don't push your luck!"
Wang Han pulled out his phone. "Then let's have the traffic police come over and decide if we need to pay!"
Zhuang Dafang backed down once again. "Such a cheapskate!"
She dug out her wallet, pulled out five thousand yuan, and slapped it into Wang Han's arms. "That's enough for you to buy a brand new one! Consider it charity from me!"
Wang Han only took five hundred and shoved the rest back into her hands. "It should cost what it costs."
"Poor and full of pride! Don't take it if you don't want to!" Zhuang Dafang stuffed the money back into her wallet, grabbed her son, and walked off with her nose in the air.
Wang Han wheeled his e-bike out and put the small helmet on Guoguo.
"Let's go home!"
Guoguo tilted her head up and smiled adorably, her two little fangs adding an extra touch of cuteness.
"Big Brother Wang," Xia Wanying called out.
"Something up?" Wang Han fastened his helmet.
"Don't take to heart what happened just now. Our school doesn't treat students differently based on what their parents do."
