For the next several hundred years, following that of the Han Dynasty, the realm was torn apart by continuous warfare divided among three domains. The end of the Wei and Jin dynasties saw further upheaval; the land fractured, and fiends broke free from their captors one after another.
Back then, when I returned to my native soil, I tried to seize the dragon veins amidst the chaos. I met him at Kunlun, the ancestral vein of all under heaven, and we sat discussing the Dao. Later, during the great turmoil, this old friend of mine charged out of Kunlun, crossed the Tianshan Mountains, and traveled far to Tibet. For reasons unknown, he later installed himself as a national preceptor, going to prop up the Yang family of Quchi—the descendants of Yang Sanlang, the True Lord of Peace. But alas, that Yang family was utterly hopeless, and they produced an ambitious, venomous woman who sought to have nine phoenixes swallow a dragon. Yet the general trend was already lost, and my friend vanished from that day on.
During this period, fiends wreaked havoc, the Central Plains were shaken to their foundations, the Nine Provinces sank, and the cries of the suffering filled the wilderness. To suppress the fiends, countless members of the Xuan Dao Si died or were wounded at his behest, nearly cutting off their lineage; only thus were the fiends suppressed, trading for the peace that followed.
