The teacher and student walked down the narrow alley, appearing harmonious enough—provided they kept their mouths shut. "Heyue, I used to think you were the most obedient student in the class," Zhou Wenhe suddenly said. "Luo Yilan is smart, but she has too many ideas of her own. I preferred you. You did whatever I told you to do; you’d just gaze at me with those eyes and say, 'Yes, teacher.'" Heyue stopped in her tracks, unable to suppress a barrage of retorts: "And then what? You don't like me anymore? Because I won't listen to you? Because it makes you lose that feeling of power?"
