Morofushi Hiromitsu felt as though his bones were melting. His heart hammered wildly before the blood circulation was suddenly cut off, and his consciousness began to fade. His scream of agony was choked off right in his throat, and then he lost his five senses entirely, plunging into unconsciousness. Two hours later, a delayed-action device activated, and flames encircled Morofushi Hiromitsu.
"Strange, how is there a fire in the forest?" Dr. Agasa was out collecting tree resin. Stopping his collection tool, he walked toward the glare of the fire. As the heat wave hit him, Dr. Agasa vaguely caught sight of a small child amidst the blaze, and the deliberate gap left in the flames seemed to offer this child a path to survival.
"What kind of case is this? How could anyone be so cruel to a small child?" Seeing that the fire was about to engulf the child, Dr. Agasa smeared resin directly onto his own clothes, charged straight in, picked up the child, and dashed back out.
