Tamazawa Shuxin held a candle and walked downward. Though his footsteps were very light, there were still faint echoes. Gripping the body of the candle tightly, Tamazawa Shuxin focused his mind to the utmost, his nerves taut, steadying his breath as he safely reached the bottom. Moving forward, Tamazawa Shuxin blew out the candle, plunging into the darkness. Akiyama Katsuki did not seem to be in the basement; he must have gone out.
Carefully sensing the draft of air, Tamazawa Shuxin judged the location of the door leading outside and groped his way toward it. "Huh? What is this smell?" Tamazawa Shuxin squatted down, feeling around continuously until his fingers finally brushed against a series of rounded lumps. "Homemade bombs." It seemed this had been plotted long in advance; even before cooperating with Kato Yukima, Akiyama Katsuki had intended to blow this place up to eliminate any future trouble.
Feeling further ahead, he indeed found oil drums. Tamazawa Shuxin was caught completely off guard by this twist. He had thought there were only a few minor issues to deal with, not expecting each trouble to be more dramatic than the last. "Please, this is Kumamoto, not Beika." Tamazawa Shuxin now just wanted to wrap things up quickly and send a certain case-generating machine back to where he belonged. He immediately set about dismantling the bombs, neutralizing them by dousing the explosives with water.
