"Isn't he handsome? So handsome!" Yao Na'er was still beside herself with excitement.
Hearing Yao Na'er's excited words, Xiao Ye snapped back to her senses, feeling a sudden wave of self-reproach: Beauty can truly lead one astray, and devastating good looks are nothing but a curse!
Huang Li, who had also just recovered her composure, agreed, "Mm! Handsome! That guy is genuinely handsome."
"Well, it's a rare day when your taste doesn't fail you," Xiao Ye chimed in with a deadpan expression.
Yao Na'er turned her head stiffly and said, speechless, "Lord Xiao, let's have a fight!"
"No, no, no! Think of your image! Your great god Yi is still up there on stage!" Xiao Ye hurriedly waved her hands, offering a 'well-meaning' reminder.
"True. I'll fight you to the death when we get back then. Come on, let's go see our great god Yi!" With that, she grabbed Xiao Ye and Huang Li and headed toward the stage.
"Ha! With that scrawny little frame of yours, you wouldn't even be enough to serve as a warm-up for our Yezi," Huang Li said, looking her up and down.
"Oh! That's right! Did I waste two years learning martial arts for nothing?" Xiao Ye suddenly remembered.
"Lord Xiao even learned martial arts?" Yao Na'er turned to face the two of them, walking backward as she asked in surprise.
"You bet! Want to try a round?" Xiao Ye raised a delicate eyebrow.
"No, no, no! I can't afford to mess with you!" Yao Na'er waved her hands frantically.
"Watch yourself, there's a turn coming up—"
"Thud!"
Just as Huang Li's voice trailed off, Yao Na'er bumped into a girl who had just appeared around the corner of the stage, causing the small cupcake in the girl's hand to drop. A dollop of it landed squarely on her snow-white canvas shoes.
"Ah! My shoes!" the girl shrieked, staring down at her footwear. Three or four girls around her let out a few gasps of dismay.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" Yao Na'er, snapping back to reality, immediately bowed in apology.
"Are you fucking blind?!" the girl roared, stamping her foot in an attempt to shake off the tiny splatter of chocolate sauce.
Yao Na'er was a bit stunned by the roar, but since she was clearly in the wrong, she had to apologize again. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I really didn't mean to! Let me help you wash your shoes clean!"
As the girl's shout faded, both Xiao Ye and Huang Li instantly realized something: this chick was probably not someone to mess with! The two of them stepped up right behind Yao Na'er. After all, the other side had numbers, and they couldn't afford to lose face in the posture department.
"Do you fucking think you can wash it clean!" the girl glared furiously.
"Exactly! Look at how expensive these shoes are!" chimed in a girl next to her with ear-length short hair, looking deeply 'righteous and indignant'.
What did the price have to do with whether they could be washed clean? Xiao Ye could never quite wrap her head around that logic.
"How, how expensive are they?" Yao Na'er asked, knowing she was on shaky ground.
"Eight hundred yuan!"
Eight hundred!
Hearing that figure, the same thought popped into all three of their minds: wearing eight hundred yuan on your feet—this chick must have a screw loose in her head!
*Then what do you want us to do about it?* I certainly can't afford to pay for that! Yao Na'er thought to herself.
"Pay up, what else?" said the short-haired girl.
Is it whatever you want it to be? Yao Na'er muttered inwardly.
"Exactly! Pay for the damage!"
"You have to take responsibility for ruining someone's shoes!"
The surrounding girls chimed in with righteous indignation.
Hearing her companions' support, the girl with the dirtied shoes sneered and said with utter contempt, "Hmph! Looking like the broke loser she is, how the fuck could she ever afford to pay for them!"
A broke loser?
Although Yao Na'er wasn't wearing shoes worth over eight hundred, she didn't fit the description of a "broke loser" by any stretch of the imagination.
That girl was seriously pissed off.
Hearing those words, Yao Na'er subconsciously glanced down at her own outfit: *Sure, I might not be able to afford the compensation, but where on earth does she get off calling me a broke loser?* However, Yao Na'er kept that thought to herself; after all, she was the one who had dirtied the other person's shoes and was in the wrong first.
Xiao Ye and Huang Li also knew very well that their side was in the wrong, so they simply stood silently behind Yao Na'er without interrupting, lending her moral support and putting on a brave front. They wanted the other side to know that they weren't alone either, hoping the girls might rein it in just a little bit.
Yet, their silence did nothing to calm the other party's anger, nor did it show any sign of restraint. Instead, the girls became even more aggressive.
