Chapter 1

"Hmm... I’m working out at the gym. You just focus on your work. It’s nothing... Yeah, don't call me."
"Are you ever going to stop nagging? The due date is still over twenty days away. The doctor even said moderate exercise is good for the baby."
"I’m hanging up. Ah..."
That was the phone conversation between Yang Fan and his wife, Liu Dan. Beyond the background music, there were also squelching and rhythmic slapping sounds.
For anyone with a sound mind, it was hard not to think the worst.
Just as Yang Fan was about to head to the gym his wife frequented to investigate, a sharp, resounding slap snapped him back to reality.
He was at the Fengcheng No. 1 People’s Hospital, standing outside the delivery room. He had actually fallen asleep.
A wave of guilt washed over Yang Fan.
"You piece of trash! My sister is in there fighting for her life, and you’re here sleeping?"
His brother-in-law, Liu Jian, grabbed him by the collar and roared.
*Slap!*
His mother-in-law, Pan Meifeng, followed up with another blow.
"You good-for-nothing waste of space! My daughter is about to give birth, and you actually let her go to the gym? If anything happens to her, I’ll skin you alive!"
The two slaps left Yang Fan seeing stars, his head ringing steadily.
Feeling in the wrong, he didn't dare to complain. He hurriedly explained, "Mom, Jian, I’m sorry. I’ve been working for over forty hours straight. After I got your call, I ran all the way from the company to the hospital. I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore, and besides..."
Besides, since when could he control what Liu Dan wanted to do?
The mother and son didn't listen to his explanation, raining kicks and blows upon him while hurling insults.
*Creak!*
The delivery room door was pushed open, and the two finally stopped their assault.
A nurse walked out, glancing around as if looking for someone.
"Nurse, how is my wife?" Yang Fan hurried forward to ask.
"Is the patient inside your wife?"
The nurse’s tone was strange, and she looked Yang Fan up and down.
Seeing him nod repeatedly, a flicker of pity appeared in her eyes.
"Mother and child are both healthy!"
Hearing this, the heart that had been in Yang Fan's throat finally dropped. A surge of joy followed—Liu Dan had given him a son! He had a son!
But this ecstasy lasted less than half a minute. Another nurse walked out carrying a dark-skinned infant.
The baby wasn't just dark; his features were clearly not Asian.
Yang Fan’s expression froze, as if he had been struck by lightning.
Trembling, he asked, "Nurse, is this... my son? Did you bring out the wrong baby?"
"There is only one woman giving birth in there," the nurse replied, sounding impatient.
Yang Fan’s expression twisted. He turned his head slowly to look at Pan Meifeng.
He was met with another resounding slap.
"I knew you were some mongrel with no pedigree! Your mother must have slept with a Black man to give birth to you. You have those genes in your body, and now you’ve made my daughter give birth to a little Black baby! You’ve brought such shame to the Liu Family!"
"Your mother is the one who's a Black person! Your whole family is!"
The usually submissive Yang Fan suddenly snapped. He roared at Pan Meifeng and bolted out of the hospital like a madman.
If he didn't understand what was going on now, he would have to be an absolute fool.
Liu Dan was always at the gym. Her trainer was a Black man named Jack. She had a spade tattoo on her inner thigh. Several times when he had called her, her voice had sounded strange...
Every detail Yang Fan hadn't paid attention to before now pierced his heart like a steel blade.
The unexpected happiness had turned into a massive joke. This cuckold’s hat had been placed upon him from head to toe.
A long-awaited downpour hit Fengcheng, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Like a walking corpse, Yang Fan stumbled through the storm, not knowing where to go.
At the end of the road, a red Porsche approached.
The female driver behind the wheel was muttering to herself, "Brake on the left, gas on the right, brake on the left, gas on the right..."
Suddenly, a figure appeared, panicking her. She slammed her foot down on whichever pedal she hit first.
*Bang!*
Yang Fan was launched into the air, spinning 720 degrees.
Just then, a bolt of lightning struck him directly.
A cheap piece of jade he wore around his neck emitted a faint glow, turned to dust, and dissolved into his body.
After hitting Yang Fan, the Porsche swerved into the greenery and finally came to a stop.
The driver sat in a daze for a full minute before trembling as she pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
Tearfully, she said to the person on the other end, "Dad, I think I hit someone. I told you I shouldn't be driving..."
In a hazy state, Yang Fan heard some muffled voices.
"Hard to say if he's unlucky or lucky. Hit by a car, struck by lightning, and yet he’s still alive with only a few contusions."
He didn't know how much time had passed when Yang Fan opened his eyes. Before him stood a girl who looked like a middle-schooler.
The window was open, and her light blue floral dress swayed in the breeze, carrying the scent of a warm summer day.
Looking down, he saw a pair of slender, pale, flawless legs.
In his astonishment, a crisp, melodic voice reached his ears: "You’re finally awake! How do you feel?"
It was the owner of the floral dress.
Yang Fan’s breath hitched.
It was like seeing a *luoli* from a manga break through the fourth wall and into reality.
She wore her hair in a ponytail, her skin as smooth as suet jade. Her large, watery eyes seemed capable of speech, and beneath her high bridge of a nose were lips as delicate and red as rose petals.
The girl seemed somewhat flustered, her fragile, doll-like face filled with worry and concern.
But that wasn't the point. The point was that his vision could actually see through that floral dress.
"Hey, are you going to say something? Don't scare me."
The girl waved her hand in front of his face.
Yang Fan closed his eyes, his throat bobbing as he asked in a hoarse voice, "Where am I?"
The pain in various parts of his body reminded him he wasn't dreaming.
The girl patted her chest, looking relieved.
"You're in the hospital. The doctor said as long as you woke up, there shouldn't be any major problems."
She suddenly knitted her delicate brows. "Are you sick in the head or something? Standing in the middle of the road in such heavy rain? It’s my first day with a driver's license and I’ve already caused an accident!"
The memories came flooding back. Yang Fan remembered.
His wife had given birth to a little Black baby, and in his state of shock, he had wandered into the rain, only to be struck by a car...
Seeing the pain on his face, the girl jumped.
"Where do you hurt? I’ll go call the doctor."
With that, she trotted out of the ward, her shapely backside swaying.
Yang Fan withdrew his gaze and looked around. The cross-sectional views of the objects around him made it clear.
He seemed to have, possibly, probably... acquired the power of X-ray Vision.
