No set return date yet; I’ll let you know once things are handled." It was a mundane message, yet my heart fluttered as I read it over and over, savoring the subtle sweetness between the lines. He was keeping me informed of his whereabouts. It wasn't like the last time, when he had secretly flown abroad to pick up his Great-grandfather without saying a word, leaving me to think he was giving me the cold shoulder.
