The knockout tournament featured a total of sixty-four contestants. To claim the championship, a fighter had to win through six rounds of competition.
Many contestants were already content simply to reach the knockout stage, viewing any extra two or three matches as added glory for their respective martial arts schools. By this stage, every participant was a top-tier Vivid Force martial artist without a shred of mediocrity.
Furthermore, there were the two heavy favorites for the title: Master Xu’s prized pupil, Liu Dong, and Teng Xiaobo of the Teng family. Several other fighters matched Aibi’s level as Vivid Force (Peak) practitioners. Consequently, making it into the top eight was exceptionally difficult.
