The twelve bronze animal head statues of the Chinese zodiac are world-famous.
These twelve bronze statues were originally part of the fountains outside the Haiyan Hall of the Old Summer Palace, cast in red copper during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty.
In 1860, the Anglo-French Allied Forces invaded China and burned the Old Summer Palace, after which the bronze animal heads began to be scattered overseas.
