The shop sold all sorts of exotic oddities: ivory from ice elephants in the Far North, multicolored jade from the Kingdom of Siyou in the remote lands overseas, and four-legged golden birds captured from Mount Liubo in the East Sea. While these items sounded rare and precious, they were merely trifles meant to deceive common folk and held virtually no value to a cultivator. Upon entering, Chen Xuan immediately looked toward the source of the singing. All he saw was a down-and-out young scholar with a bookish air, locked in a heated bargain with the shopkeeper over a conch shell.
