After the black man inserted a needle into Xu Lin's arm, a trickle of blood flowed from the needle into a transparent tube. Xu Lin tried to struggle, but it was completely useless; he was tied down too tightly. Once the tube was nearly full, the black man pulled out the needle, carefully observed the puncture wound, and after seeing it heal, jotted something down intently on a piece of paper in his hand.
Xu Lin stared at him with fury, but the black man didn't even spare him a glance. He simply took Xu Lin's blood and walked away, setting it on a counter as he went back to his busy work. After a little while, a white man came in carrying something similar, except this time the container was filled with a transparent liquid. He likewise poked Xu Lin's arm and injected the transparent liquid into his body. Gradually, Xu Lin began to feel a sliver of strength returning to his limbs.
Just like that, people would periodically draw blood from his body or pump unknown liquids into him. Seething with anger yet unable to speak, Xu Lin was driven to distraction, veins bulging on his temples in sheer frustration.
