This time, Karl the black man did not come alone. Entering with him were several burly, thick-waisted men, along with a slender man who looked quite scholarly. The slender man was carrying a tray holding more than a dozen syringe tubes. After entering the room, Karl ignored Liu Feng standing to the side and gestured to the slender man, who immediately picked up a syringe and handed it to Karl. Holding the syringe, Karl walked over to Xu Lin, preparing to draw blood. This time, however, Xu Lin did not let him have his way. Instead, he shoved Karl aside with one hand and glared at him angrily. It was the first time Karl had ever looked directly into Xu Lin's eyes. Xu Lin's gaze was as sharp as a blade, seeming to pierce through the barriers of the human heart straight to the depths of the soul. There was not a trace of warmth in his eyes, only the fierce, chilling glare of a beast that made one's hair stand on end. Terrified, Karl took several steps back. He was merely a researcher; though he had encountered some vicious criminals before, none of their gazes had been as sharp as Xu Lin's, which felt like a beast about to devour someone. As he retreated, Karl was steadied from behind by one of the bulky men. Instantly regaining his confidence, Karl ordered the thugs, "Go catch that yellow-faced monkey."
