The dinner party was held in the small courtyard of Uncle Zhang’s house. There were fifteen people in total: Xie Nanzhou, Jiang Younian, Xiaoyou, Kong Que, Brother Tai, Uncle Zhang, Zhao Ming, Qi Feng, the City Lord, Lin Shu, Lin Mo, Old Gao, Zhou Mei, Song Ran, and Aunt Song. Two wooden tables had been pushed together, with the fifteen of them seated in a circle. Uncle Zhang and Old Gao had prepared two pots, which was the only way to accommodate everyone. Two pots of bright red, bubbling broth sat on the tables, and the spicy, piping-hot aroma wafted through the air. The rich soup base simmered and churned, making everyone’s mouth water just from the scent. The selection of ingredients was surprisingly plentiful; after all, they were in the Underworld, so being able to gather all this was an achievement in itself. Many of the vegetables were grown by Uncle Zhang himself. Other items, like hot pot meatballs, bean curd skins, tripe, and thinly sliced beef and lamb, were things Uncle Zhang had purchased from the Netherworld Market. Back when Jiang Younian and his group had first set off for the Resentment Realm, Uncle Zhang had already begun planning this hot pot dinner. He had spent that entire time visiting the market every day to pick up supplies piece by piece. When he was bored at home, he would tend to his small plot of land.
