Chapter 12

Su Yanfei’s lips parted slightly, just as she was about to explain.
Unexpectedly, the very next second.
The phone in Meng Nan’s hand suddenly rang with an incoming call. She offered the two of them an apologetic smile, then turned away to answer it.
"Hello, it’s me..."
Well, that settled it. Even the opportunity for an explanation had been "saved."
After Meng Nan turned and walked away, Jiang Jun and Su Yanfei simultaneously turned to glance at each other. Realizing the other person was also looking, they quickly averted their gaze and looked away.
Su Yanfei turned and headed toward the second-floor stairs, and Jiang Jun immediately followed behind her, neither of them speaking a word.
Ascending to the library area on the second floor, because it was still a weekday at this hour, almost the entire floor was practically deserted.
On both sides of the second floor stood rows of large bookshelves, with a very long table placed right down the middle. Scattered around the tables on the left and right sides were a few people quietly reading with their heads down.
"Senior."
Jiang Jun called out to her in a low voice, pointing his finger at the row of private study rooms nearby, and said, "We should be going into one of the private rooms, right?"
Why did that sound a little strange?
Before Su Yanfei could reply, Jiang Jun added an unnecessary remark, purposefully supplementing with: "Uh, I mean, for our tutoring session."
Su Yanfei: ......?
"I know."
Su Yanfei first gave him a sideways glance, then turned and walked into one of the private rooms.
After Jiang Jun followed her inside, a trace of unnaturalness crossed her face. Hesitating for a moment, she said in a low voice, "Close the door."
"Oh, right."
After that, the two of them began their tutoring session.
Su Yanfei sat across from Jiang Jun, her arms crossed as she leaned against the chair. Her face resumed its habitual cold expression, and she said flatly, "Take out the homework I assigned you yesterday."
Jiang Jun nodded, feigning a nervous expression as he took the homework out of his backpack, carefully placing it with both hands on Su Yanfei’s desk.
Seeing Jiang Jun looking so cautious and nervous, she couldn't help but find it a bit amusing, yet she also felt somewhat speechless.
You must have had a great time playing video games last night, didn't you?
If you knew this would happen, why do it in the first place?
Su Yanfei picked up the test paper and looked it over with a serious expression, but her face quickly sank.
Just as she had guessed, even though she had gone over the concepts with him yesterday, Jiang Jun still made quite a few mistakes. Moreover, two of the questions were ones she had specifically explained to him twice before, yet he got them wrong again!
Making the same mistake twice on the very same concept—wasn't this deliberately trying to infuriate someone?
Just as Su Yanfei’s blood pressure was skyrocketing, she mentally estimated the score on the test.
Seventy points.
Her expression flickered slightly as a memory gradually surfaced in her mind—the day Jiang Jun had written those "+5" characters on his test paper.
Su Yanfei suddenly laughed.
She was laughed out of anger.
"You really are 'true to your word.' You said your score would go up by 5 points every test, and it really only went up by 5 points."
Su Yanfei looked at Jiang Jun expressionless and said, "But what you said back then was that it would go up by *at least* 5 points, not *only* 5 points."
"Uh, well, you have to take things step by step, right? Shouldn't Teacher Su be a bit more patient with a student who has a poor foundation?"
Jiang Jun met Su Yanfei’s gaze and said with a completely serious expression, "I did say 'at least five points'; it's just that I failed to reach higher, but at least I got those five points, right?"
"Even though my success failed, my failure was very successful. Isn't this a kind of success in itself, Teacher Su? Am I right?"
Su Yanfei: ??
Hearing this, Su Yanfei was left speechless, momentarily having no idea how to refute his words.
She picked up the test paper, turned her back to Jiang Jun, and faced the wall to take a deep breath, silently chanting to herself to self-soothe:
Don't get angry.
After all, this is my first time working as a private tutor and a teacher. I've done even harder part-time jobs before; I'll get used to it gradually. It's bound to get better.
Seeing this déjà vu scene, Jiang Jun tilted his head to look at Su Yanfei’s profile and asked tentatively in a low voice, "Teacher Su, are you lowering your blood pressure?"
Su Yanfei: ......
Having finally managed to bring it down, it instantly rebounded to double the level.
Even the coldest campus belle goddess was a living person with a temper of her own.
With an icy expression, Su Yanfei turned to look at Jiang Jun and was about to let loose when she saw Jiang Jun wearing a sincere expression and an apologetic tone as he spoke.
"Teacher Su, I was wrong. I'll study much harder from now on. The score on the next test will definitely go up by more than 5 points. If, if I can't do it..."
Reaching this point, Jiang Jun lifted his eyelids to steal a glance at Su Yanfei, deliberately pausing.
Su Yanfei looked at him coldly and retorted, "And what if you can't?"
Jiang Jun took a deep breath, raised his head to meet Su Yanfei's gaze, and spoke with a serious expression.
"For the next test, I guarantee my score will be ten points higher than the last one. If I fail to do it, then I, Jiang Jun, will treat Teacher Su to a meal at Landi Hotel, and you can order whatever you want."
Landi, located in the most prosperous section of the Hong Kong City CBD, was a five-star hotel. Besides dining, one could take in a panoramic view of the night view of Hong Kong City, and Landi frequently hosted high-end events.
For instance, the concerts that Su Yanfei loved to attend.
But none of that was the main point.
In a flash, Su Yanfei remembered what Jiang Jun’s older sister had once said: with a guy like Jiang Jun, you have to charge him a bit more so that it hurts his wallet and he actually pays attention to things.
At this thought, Su Yanfei smiled inwardly, nodded, and said, "Fine, you asked for it."
"Then Teacher Su, what if I *do* succeed?"
Jiang Jun paused. Before Su Yanfei could speak, he simply made the decision for her and proposed, "If I succeed, then Teacher Su has to treat me to a meal in return. I'll pick the place, but it definitely won't be at Landi, okay?"
Su Yanfei glanced at him.
If it really were Landi, even if you won, I wouldn't have the financial strength to treat you to a meal there.
"Okay."
Su Yanfei sat down in her chair, placed the test paper from earlier on the desk, and said calmly, "Alright, let's not waste time, class is starting."
Jiang Jun responded with a nod, and the two of them began the lesson.
Clearly, Jiang Jun had already mastered all of those knowledge points long ago. Whenever teachers lectured in class, Jiang Jun would find the material extremely boring and tedious.
It was much like a college student listening intently to an elder teach them elementary school knowledge.
However.
When Jiang Jun was here with Su Yanfei, not only did he not find the class boring, but while doing the problems, he even found himself thinking:
Reviewing the old to learn the new isn't a bad thing; doing basic exercises is quite nice.
Perhaps learning the material a second time in class wasn't what mattered; what mattered was *who* was teaching him.
In the blink of an eye, a little over half an hour of tutoring had passed when bustling noises suddenly came from outside.
Su Yanfei glanced out the glass window. Outside the private room, several middle school students were laughing and walking up to the second floor of the shop after school.
This was also part of her part-time job. Although it wasn't quite time for her official shift yet, at times like this, she needed to go out and maintain order.
"I saw that you were taking notes just now, so review the material I went over again."
Su Yanfei stood up, looked at Jiang Jun with a serious expression, and said, "I can tell you quite clearly that the test questions I give you next time will be chosen as test points from these three major chapters we've covered."
"Study properly, I'm going outside to take care of some things for a moment."
With that, seeing Jiang Jun nod in response, Su Yanfei turned and left the private room.
After she left, Jiang Jun turned his head to look at the window behind him.
"Where did the senior go?"
"Could it be that besides tutoring me, the senior has other part-time jobs?"
Thinking of this, Jiang Jun simply stood up, walked around the table, and sat in the chair Su Yanfei had just occupied. From this angle, he had a clear view of the situation outside the study room window.
At this moment, Su Yanfei’s body was slightly bent forward, a gentle smile blooming on her face as she patiently communicated with those middle school students.
At that moment, Su Yanfei looked just like a gentle angel.
Jiang Jun watched the scene before him, utterly mesmerized. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly, and he couldn't help but make a move.
