HKU Second Cafeteria.
Under the eaves at the cafeteria entrance stood a girl wearing a white pleated maxi skirt and a white T-shirt, her brow slightly furrowed as she looked up at the sky.
Even her shoes were white; white seemed to be her exclusive color.
Yet her mood right now was as urgent as this torrential downpour, wishing the rain would stop as soon as possible.
Little did she know, this exact scene of her had just been caught by a young man walking over with an umbrella.
Jiang Jun involuntarily slowed his pace, gazing intently at Su Yanfei not far away, his entire attention completely captivated.
She tilted her head slightly to gaze at the sky, revealing the perfect curve of her jawline and collarbone; even just in profile, she was so enchanting.
Su Yanfei stood there quietly, doing nothing at all, yet she became a white fairy in the rain, ethereal and breathtakingly elegant.
Tap, tap.
The sound of footsteps splashing in the puddles caught Su Yanfei's attention, and she turned her head to look.
That glance happened to meet the gaze of Jiang Jun, who was walking toward her.
At this sight, Su Yanfei's beautiful eyes widened slightly, a trace of surprise flashing in them.
Jiang Jun walked up to the spot right in front of Su Yanfei. There were still three steps leading down beneath the eaves; he deliberately shifted his umbrella forward a fraction and spoke softly and gently.
"Rain like this is going to last a long time, Senior. Let's go."
"Okay."
Su Yanfei hesitated for a moment, nodded gently, and lifted her foot to step forward.
Just then, Jiang Jun proactively bent and raised one of his arms, holding his forearm horizontally in front of Su Yanfei.
"Be careful of your footing, Senior. The steps are very slippery after the rain."
*You freshman junior, you've quite the gentlemanly air about you.*
Hearing these words, the cold expression on Su Yanfei's face gradually softened as she looked at Jiang Jun.
"Thank you."
Following that, she placed her hand lightly on Jiang Jun's forearm while stepping down the stairs, though her hand rested there for barely two seconds.
The two walked side by side beneath the umbrella, but since Jiang Jun's was a folding umbrella and rather small, they stayed very close to each other.Jiang Jun caught a faint, delicate fragrance mingling with the fresh, rain-washed air as it drifted into his senses.
Could it be that pretty girls naturally smelled so wonderful?
At this thought, Jiang Jun suddenly turned his head, lowering his gaze to look down at Su Yanfei, only to discover a faint blush spreading across her cheeks.
As everyone knows, when someone is watching you, your own intuition usually senses it.
So, Su Yanfei looked up and found that Jiang Jun was actually staring at her. Their eyes met for a single second before they simultaneously looked away.
Even though neither of them said a word, Jiang Jun stole another glance and noticed that the tips of Su Yanfei's ears had turned slightly red as well.
Hmm?
The campus belle senior was actually shy?
Right now, a wave of helplessness washed over Su Yanfei, accompanied by a tiny trace of warmth and bashfulness.
Truth be told, for many years, she had almost never walked side by side this closely with a boy under the same umbrella—especially not someone who had specifically come out to pick her up.
The two of them arrived at the study room.
Being the weekend, coupled with the heavy rain early this morning, there was practically no one around, either inside or outside.
The seats they chose happened to be the exact same ones they had used yesterday.
Su Yanfei placed her shoulder bag on the desk, glanced around the surroundings, and even bent down to peer into the desk drawer, as if searching for something.
"Senior, are you looking for this?"
As he spoke, Jiang Jun took a pink thermos cup out of his own backpack, walked over, and handed it to her.
Su Yanfei was slightly stunned.
So he was the one who had picked up her missing cup from yesterday.
As Su Yanfei took the thermos, Jiang Jun chuckled softly and said, "Senior, you left the study room in too much of a rush yesterday and forgot your cup. When I saw it, I took it back with me."
"Oh, and the water inside is safe to drink; I refilled it with warm water this morning.""This thermos has been with me for a long time. I thought it was really gone."
Su Yanfei returned his polite smile and said, "Thank you."
A moment later, Su Yanfei began tutoring Jiang Jun.
Holding her textbook, Su Yanfei stood up and told Jiang Jun to open his book to the corresponding page based on her prompts, starting the lesson from the basic theories of his major.
"Common counting systems include binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal. I'll explain the decimal system to you first."
"First, let's understand the definition. It's very simple: the base is 10, and you carry over a digit every time you reach ten."
Su Yanfei lectured while holding her book. Jiang Jun propped his textbook up, resting his chin in one hand. On the surface, he looked like he was paying attention in class, but in reality...
He was admiring the breathtaking beauty of his Fairy Tutor.
She really was stunning.
Suddenly, Jiang Jun could understand why his roommates had those thoughts.
After all, among all the guys in the world, who wouldn't want their girlfriend to be a campus belle as gorgeous as a fairy?
As he was staring, completely mesmerized:
"Junior, please focus during class. Stop getting distracted and looking around."
Su Yanfei turned to look directly at Jiang Jun, a hint of stern coldness in her eyes, and said expressionlessly, "I'll only explain the material in the book once. You'll be taking a quiz later."
The trouble was, it was hard not to get distracted.
Was this supposed to be a class, or a test of self-control?
Jiang Jun gave an awkward, embarrassed chuckle, scratched his head, nodded, and murmured, "Got it, Fairy Tutor."
Su Yanfei: ?
"What did you just call me?"
"N-nothing. Where was Senior just at? Let's continue with the lesson."
"..."
After another twenty minutes of class, Su Yanfei took a ready-made quiz from her shoulder bag and placed it on Jiang Jun's desk.
"This quiz covers what we just went over. It's out of 100 points, and you need a 90 for me to consider you as having mastered the material."
"Also..."
Su Yanfei paused, looked at Jiang Jun, and said softly, "Starting today, we need to settle the tutoring fees. Since you've fallen behind a month's worth of classes, I have no idea how long it will take you to catch up on everything, so let's settle it per session for now."
Hearing this, Jiang Jun nodded in understanding and asked, "No problem. Like Senior said, my foundation is too poor, so it's hard to say when I'll actually master this stuff."
"So, Senior, how much is the tutoring fee? I'll transfer it to you." Jiang Jun took out his phone and looked up at her.
Su Yanfei was momentarily stunned, then replied indifferently, "No rush. Take the quiz first, and we can talk about that later."
With that, she sat back down in her seat and took out her phone.
While Jiang Jun started the quiz, Su Yanfei opened a chat window on her phone, secretly snapped another photo of him working on the test, and sent it out.
Su Yanfei: [Photo]
Su Yanfei: Senior, starting today he'll be paying the tutoring fees himself, but I'm not sure how to set the price.
Yalue: What's hard about setting a price?
Yalue: If it weren't for worrying it'd be too outrageous, even if you charged him three or five hundred yuan an hour, I'd give it two thumbs up. It's high time he learned that money is hard to make and easy to spend.
Seeing the message from the other end, Su Yanfei couldn't help raising a hand to her forehead, feeling a slight sense of helplessness.
Jiang Jun sat in his chair taking the test. In fact, he had already finished the questions because they were the same type as the previous quiz, consisting mainly of multiple-choice and true-or-false questions.
However, thinking back to what Su Yanfei had just said about tutoring fees, Jiang Jun pondered for two seconds, glanced up at Su Yanfei, and the corners of his mouth gradually curled into a smile.
He picked up his pen again and deliberately changed four multiple-choice answers he had correctly filled in as "D" into "B".
Then, holding the test paper, he stood up, looked at Su Yanfei, and smiled.
"Senior, I'm done with the quiz."
