As is well known, Shancheng is a city full of unique charm and local flavor. If local children grow up immersed in their hometown's heavily accented dialect environment from a young age, they will inevitably face tremendous challenges—or even a severe "linguistic Waterloo"—when they begin learning pinyin or trying to speak standard Mandarin.
These children are very likely to show noticeable deviations and errors in their pronunciation, especially when it comes to distinguishing and accurately pronouncing certain initial consonants.
For instance, in the Shancheng dialect system, the distinction between the initials "n" and "l" is not particularly clear, which frequently leads children to confuse them when speaking.
