Chapter 2

"What is it, Captain Liu?"
The square-faced security guard known as Captain Liu was none other than the deputy captain of the security department.
"This stinking beggar has something wrong with his head. He claims his future father-in-law works here, and even says he'll make me lose my job. Tell me, isn't he out of his mind?"
"Hahaha! He really is out of his mind."
Several of the security guards burst out laughing.
Everyone in the security department knew that Captain Liu had connections up top. It took someone truly extraordinary to make him lose his job, something ordinary people couldn't pull off.
Besides, the kid standing right in front of them looked ragged and unkempt; by no stretch of the imagination did he look like someone who knew high-level executives in the corporation.
"Alright, hurry up and get to work. Chase this beggar away. The eldest miss will be here any minute now, and it won't look good if she sees this," Captain Liu said, waving his hand impatiently.
"I'll say this again: I am not a beggar!"
Zhang Ming's expression darkened as he continued, "And I'm not leaving. I still need to find my future father-in-law."
"You little beggar, you've really gotten addicted to this act, haven't you? Go on then, tell me who your future father-in-law is, and I'll check if there's any such person here," Captain Liu said coldly.
"Oh... his name is Wei Shuhan, he's some sort of... director or whatever at Star Ocean Group. Anyway, the name is right, just look him up."
"Little beggar, have a death wish, do you?"
"How could our chairman ever have a son-in-law like you? Get the hell out of here right now, or I'll beat you so badly your own parents won't recognize you."
Captain Liu spoke in a rage.
Zhang Ming frowned slightly and said, "No, he really is my future father-in-law. Go tell him, let him come down and you'll see."
Captain Liu immediately raised the stun baton in his hand and said viciously, "You stinking beggar, you're really tired of living. Our eldest miss is a well-known beauty in Jiangzhou; how could she possibly have a beggar for a husband? How dare you defile my goddess—see if I don't beat you to death!"
Before his stun baton could come down, however, a roaring engine sound rapidly approached, followed by the screech of brakes!
Zhang Ming turned his head to look and saw a fiery red Ferrari sports car pull up alongside them. The car door slowly rose, and a pair of straight, fair, black-silk-clad legs stepped out.
"Gulp!"
The security guards all stared blankly at those charming legs in black silk, swallowing hard in unison.
Zhang Ming's gaze was also drawn over, but he quickly returned to normal.
Over the years, as he carried out missions out in the world, what kind of beauties hadn't he seen? Someone like Wei Xiaoyu could only be considered average.
"What are you all doing? Why are you blocking the company entrance!"
The woman who stepped out of the sports car asked in a cold voice.
This person was Wei Shuhan's only daughter, Wei Xiaoyu.
Standing one meter seven tall, wearing killer heels and a tight miniskirt, her figure was attractively curvaceous.
"Eldest miss, this stinking beggar claims to be your husband, so we were just getting ready to chase him away," Captain Liu said hurriedly, wiping the drool from the corner of his mouth.
Zhang Ming couldn't help being taken aback. He hadn't expected this young woman to actually be Wei Shuhan's daughter, which meant she was his fiancée-to-be?
He had to admit, his elder sister had a pretty good eye. Having this Wei Xiaoyu as his wife would certainly do.
Upon hearing Captain Liu's words, Wei Xiaoyu cast a look of utter disgust at the nearby Zhang Ming.
"Pfft! Where did this toad crawl out from? With a look like yours, you dare claim to be my husband?" Wei Xiaoyu said angrily.
She instantly felt tainted just having someone like this claim to be her husband—it was utterly disgusting.
With that, she turned around and started to walk away.
"Don't go! I'm not making things up, I really am your husband!"
Zhang Ming pulled out the marriage contract, waved it vigorously at her retreating back, and shouted loudly, "I have the marriage contract as proof!"
Wei Xiaoyu froze, stopped in her tracks, and turned around to look at Zhang Ming.
"What nonsense marriage contract? Let me see it!"
With that, she curiously took the marriage contract from Zhang Ming's hand, intending to expose his lies since she had never once heard her father mention any engagement.
She didn't know until she looked, but one look gave her quite a start.
The handwriting on the document genuinely belonged to her father, and it even bore his personal seal.
Seeing Wei Xiaoyu freeze, Zhang Ming knew she had realized the marriage contract wasn't fake.
"Well? I wasn't lying to you, was I? I really am your husband. If you've confirmed there's no problem, give the marriage contract back to me and take me to find Wei Shuhan..."
Before Zhang Ming could finish speaking, he watched as Wei Xiaoyu tore the marriage contract directly to shreds, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it fiercely a couple of times.
"What bullshit marriage contract? One look and anyone can tell you're a liar, daring to forge a fake marriage contract and come to Star River Group to pull stunts! If you don't have a mirror at home, surely you have a puddle of urine—why don't you look at your own reflection? Did you really think I'd ever lower myself to fancy you?" Wei Xiaoyu scolded viciously.
Zhang Ming was dumbfounded.
Here was a perfectly good marriage contract, and before he even got to see Wei Shuhan's face, she had torn it up.
Still, torn was torn; Zhang Ming wasn't desperate to marry her anyway.
Too lazy to bother with this Wei Xiaoyu who looked down her nose at people, Zhang Ming turned around and prepared to leave.
"Want to leave? Do you really take my Star River Group for pushover? Captain Liu, get your men and teach this toad a proper lesson," Wei Xiaoyu ordered.
Hearing this, Captain Liu and the others hesitated no longer, raising their stun batons and smashing them toward Zhang Ming.
Zhang Ming's face darkened.
Normally, the people in this metropolis were just ordinary folk, and he didn't want to use his abilities to bully anyone, but since these people insisted on bringing trouble to his door, they had no one to blame.
Big, brawny, and fierce-looking though these security guards might be, in Zhang Ming's eyes they were no different from ants.
As they charged forward, Zhang Ming instantly morphed into an afterimage and vanished from the spot.
By the time they reacted, Zhang Ming had already appeared right behind them.
"You're decent human beings, but you choose to act like dogs for someone else? Whatever she tells you to do, you just go and do it? If she told you to eat shit, would you go do that too?"
Captain Liu and his men tried to turn around to keep hitting Zhang Ming, but they were instantly knocked flat by a single kick from him.
Zhang Ming planted his foot directly on Captain Liu's hand, eliciting a piercing, pig-slaughtering scream from the captain.
"Y-You brat, you dare beat people in broad daylight? That's against the law!" Captain Liu wailed.
Zhang Ming was utterly speechless.
Some people really had cheap bones. When you tried to reason with them, they insisted on using fists; now that you used fists, they wanted to talk reason?
Who cares about you?
With a swift kick, Zhang Ming sent Captain Liu flying, then walked toward Wei Xiaoyu.
By this time, Wei Xiaoyu was already thoroughly terrified. Watching Zhang Ming approach step by step, she asked with a trace of panic, "W-What do you want?"
A faint smile played on Zhang Ming's lips. "You tore up the marriage agreement, which means you rejected this union. From now on, we have nothing to do with each other. No matter what happens to the Wei Family in the future, I won't help. Begging me won't do any good."
"Beg you?"
Wei Xiaoyu couldn't help letting out a sneer, her pretty face reverting to its haughty expression. "Our Wei Family is powerful and has deep connections. Do we need to beg you? You think far too highly of yourself!"
What a joke!
This stinking beggar hadn't bothered to check who he was dealing with—given the Wei Family's current wealth and influence, how could they possibly ever need to beg a beggar for help?
