Every time he pushed Gu Qing away, his heart felt as if it were being dragged down by a heavy weight, causing him to lose his usual composure. Clenching his fists, Lu Jingyan looked up at the tightly drawn curtain. An inexplicable impulse drove him to wheel himself toward the dressing room. He reached out and pulled back the pure white fabric. Inside, Gu Qing stood with her back to him, head bowed as she smoothed out the hem of her wedding dress. Her slender, fair back was bare, and several silk ribbons hung in the air with an elegant drape. From this angle, she possessed a messy, fragile beauty. Lu Jingyan’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He averted his gaze for a second, then rolled his wheelchair into the room.
