Having received word, Father Shen and Mother Shen had been waiting at the villa entrance for quite some time. Father Shen was helping Mother Shen, his hand gently tucked under her arm. Every few moments, he would glance toward the gate, then look down at his wife to pull her coat more tightly around her shoulders.
Mother Shen’s eyes were fixed on the entrance. Her expression was somewhat vacant, a result of the illness that had plagued her for years, yet her eyes were remarkably bright, shimmering with surprise and anticipation.
