Chapter 7

After admiring the scenery, Wáng Jùnjié busied himself. He decided to start by gathering materials to build a sturdy foundation. Although thatched huts and wooden houses were relatively simple, Wáng Jùnjié had no intention of choosing them.
If it were in the south, perhaps such a choice would be feasible, but it wasn't very safe here; there was always a risk of dinosaur attacks. For example, packs of Raptors, packs of Sabertooth Tigers, or Allosaurus, and even stronger ones like Allosaurus and Tyrannosaurus Rex might appear. Don't forget the Argentavis in the sky; they were also a huge threat. Moreover, facing so many dangers, relying on a wooden house would clearly not be enough. Therefore, he decided to build a stone house to ensure his safety.
Having all the carnivorous dinosaurs patrol and keep watch nearby, Wáng Jùnjié had the Morellatops go into the bushes to collect fiber. The two Parasaurolophus were sent to collect wood, with the Parasaurolophus knocking down smaller trees one by one, which he would collect later. He himself took a stone axe to break apart river rocks. As the axe swung, hard rocks were shattered into pieces, scattering on the ground.
Where the Morellatops walked, the ground was covered in fiber. Wáng Jùnjié only had it collect nearby, not venturing too far.
The Morellatops slowly moved to another spot to continue collecting after finishing one area. The two Parasaurolophus had knocked down quite a few trees nearby and were resting, panting. They had minor scrapes on their skin from the effort. While resting, they collected berries on the spot to recover their energy. There was no other way; they had to endure for a while. If Wáng Jùnjié did all this alone, he didn't know how long it would take. The Dimetrodon and Raptors, patrolling, did not notice anything unusual. They only patrolled within the visual range of the water source. It would be more trouble than it was worth if they accidentally attracted some carnivorous dinosaurs.
They worked until evening. The surrounding temperature plummeted, and the dinosaurs, dragging their exhausted bodies, lay on the ground to rest. Five bonfires were lit around them, providing some warmth against the cold. Wáng Jùnjié knew they had worked hard today, so all he could do was give them a hearty extra meal.
He found there were still too few dinosaurs; insufficient manpower would only delay things further. Tomorrow, he would first finish the foundation and then plan accordingly.
Fortunately, they had obtained a large amount of wood, thatch, stone, and fiber today. Building a stone foundation required three types of materials: wood, stone, and thatch. All the materials were now stored in the implant. Wáng Jùnjié didn't know the technological level of Ark manufacturing, but he knew that the implant's powerful functions had opened up a new world for him, a country bumpkin. Throwing materials into the implant, it would decompose them into other materials and even craft finished products. Indeed, in a cruel survival world with dinosaurs, relying solely on a human's weak body was not enough. The creator had opened a door for this genetically modified body: the implant.
It was true that the pinnacle of theology was science. The implant's high-tech methods could even conjure objects from prepared materials. Inside the implant, there were already over a hundred stone foundations, a dozen walls, and ceilings, all completed and sitting quietly. Wáng Jùnjié had studied it: the implant could create overly complex modern products, but some handmade items like bows and arrows, clothes, and saddles had to be made manually, except for platform saddles. Tomorrow, after waking up, he would first complete laying the foundations and then craft a grinder. He planned to tame more dinosaurs for help with construction using anesthetic arrows.
The next morning, a cool breeze blew, waking Wáng Jùnjié. Seeing the extinguished bonfire, he realized there was no more fuel. But since he was awake, he wouldn't go back to sleep; he got up to work!
After collecting the charcoal from the bonfire, Wáng Jùnjié went to wash up simply. He couldn't help it; modern people liked to be clean.
The dinosaurs also woke up one after another. Fortunately, no carnivorous dinosaurs had attacked. If only it could always be like this...
Wáng Jùnjié had already laid the foundations in the chosen spot, extending all the way outside. Looking at the remaining walls and ceilings, it was enough to build a small home for now. While building the house, Wáng Jùnjié directed the two Parasaurolophus and the Morellatops to collect black berries. He decided not to gather materials for building today; he would tame some dinosaurs first. He had too few helpers now, and he wouldn't be his own slave.
After a period of diligent work, Wáng Jùnjié finally completed his house construction.
Standing before the completed house, a sense of accomplishment surged within him. This matchbox he had built with his own hands finally had a proper house. More importantly, it was located in front of the water source, in a beautiful and tranquil environment. He no longer needed to sleep outdoors by the water's edge at night but could return home to enjoy a comfortable sleep. This was undoubtedly a great improvement for him, and Wáng Jùnjié was very satisfied with his masterpiece.
At the entrance, Wáng Jùnjié had also specially made a wide door, allowing dinosaurs to enter and exit freely. This way, even if attacked by dinosaurs, he and the dinosaurs could quickly hide inside and observe the situation outside through the windows.
If the enemy was too powerful, he could even counterattack through the shooting holes to protect himself, and even if faced with an attack from a pack of dinosaurs, he could hide inside and kill them one by one. After admiring his masterpiece, Wáng Jùnjié took out a grinder and placed it on the ground. He went out to find the Parasaurolophus and Morellatops that were collecting berries. He collected all the black berries, amounting to several hundred. These berries were enough to make anesthetic arrows and could also be used to increase stun duration during taming. Wáng Jùnjié, while using the black berries and rotten meat from the implant to grind into anesthetic juice in the grinder, also made stone arrows.
He placed the prepared stone arrows into the anesthetic juice in the grinder to soak, then laid them all out on the foundation to dry. Wáng Jùnjié took the opportunity to make two large bags from animal hide and fiber, hanging them on the Parasaurolophus with a saddle. He tied them to both sides of the saddle, making it convenient for the Parasaurolophus to carry things.
After waiting for an hour for the anesthetic to be fully absorbed, he collected them and put them into the quiver on his back. Then, using the remaining animal hide, he made a Raptor saddle. He mounted the Raptor, planning not to take any other dinosaurs with him. The Raptor's speed was already very fast among carnivorous dinosaurs; basically, no medium-sized carnivorous dinosaur could catch up, not even the swift Allosaurus. He would leave the other dinosaurs to guard the house.
Riding the Raptor into the jungle, he intended to first catch some herbivorous dinosaurs to help gather resources, and then catch some carnivorous dinosaurs to strengthen security. Relying solely on Dimetrodon was definitely not enough; they couldn't even defeat a Sabertooth Tiger. Anyway, carnivorous dinosaurs in the snow mountain area were easy to find, so there was no need to rush. Wáng Jùnjié rode the Raptor slowly, trying not to make any noise, for fear that the herbivores would see the Raptor and react excessively, immediately fleeing.
Wáng Jùnjié eyed the Triceratops grazing leisurely not far away with longing. The Triceratops, hailed as the beginner's shield of Ark, was undoubtedly very powerful, capable of confronting most medium to large carnivorous dinosaurs. However, he couldn't tame it yet.
He could kite and shoot anesthetic arrows while riding the Raptor. Unfortunately, the Raptor couldn't outrun the Triceratops. Given the Triceratops' bulk, one charge from it would likely cripple both of them.
It was a pity there were no Stegosaurus here. The Stegosaurus, being clumsy unlike the Triceratops, would undoubtedly have been the best choice. They were large with considerable combat power, good for guarding the home and for battle. After looking around, he couldn't find a suitable creature, so he had to target the Parasaurolophus again. This time, Wáng Jùnjié didn't need to use the terrain to tame it. Riding the Raptor, he constantly kited. The Parasaurolophus' reckless charges could be easily avoided by the agile Raptor, while continuously using flails to interfere. Wáng Jùnjié specifically aimed for the Parasaurolophus' legs to bind them. After using a few flails, the Parasaurolophus lost its balance and struggled on the ground. Wáng Jùnjié took the opportunity to shoot a few more arrows, and the Parasaurolophus fainted.
